Hi all. I haven't been on this Forum for quite a while but have had amazing help and advice from the RLS Forum. I have multiple health problems including 2 vertebral fracture's with splinters of bone digging into nerves and I wondered how anybody here copes with this pain. Do any of you who have fracture's wear a belt and does it help? The fracture's are at the base of my spine where I have a big lump. My Dr. said not to wear one because it would weaken my spine . I take 2. 5 mg Oramorph when the pain is out of control and have just started 0.4 mg Buprenorphine tablet's for the RLS which is helping that though I'm still fiddling about with the dose....which I was told to do ! I couldn't tolerate the patches because they gave me a terrible rash.I have a 10 cm hiatus hernia, Diverticulitis, adhesions in my stomach from multiple operations for Endometriosis year's ago and was left with lung cancer for 15 month's because the Pain Clinic ignored the tumour on an Xray but that has left me a wreck! My Dr. rang yesterday and actually admitted that I have been let down too often by various medic's. That was amazing because they don't, usually, admit to any mistakes! If I hadn't had pneumonia and been rushed to hospital where they ' found ' the cancer....again, I wouldn't be here now! The pain I have been left with has left me with a half life but I'm lucky to be here . Do vitamins help, what helps fracture's because the pain gets so bad it makes me feel sick! Sorry to waffle! Thanks in advance for any advice. Take care everybody.
Vertebral fracture's. : Hi all. I haven't been... - Pain Concern
Vertebral fracture's.
You are very brave.I had a bad fall from a step ladder in September last year fractured my knee, have some fragments floating around in knee also
I can bend knee but not fully straighten it.
Called an ambulance day I had fall but they wouldn't come out as my injuries were not life threatening.
NHS is a joke.
I hope you get relief from your back pain soon and wish you well with all other health issues.
Best wishes,
Dawn
Thank you Dawn. Unfortunately, it took my Dr. over a year to get me the DEXA Scan I had asked for when I first told him about the lump on my spine. Then the scan showed that I have Osteoporosis in my spine, pelvis and a few other places but if I had had the scan when I asked, they might have been able to operate. Don't get me started on the NHS ! I am phobic about going to our hospital or to the rotten Pain Clinic! I was stunned yesterday when my Dr. acknowledged that I have been badly treated and let down by the medical profession and he's amazed that I keep going ! I'm horrified that an ambulance wouldn't go out to you. You must have been in agony. I'm so sorry that you had to go through that and also, that you are still in so much pain. I wish I could give you a hug ! I don't think people realise how painful it is when splinters of bone are digging into nerves ! Take care and let us know how you get on . Hopefully someone will come up with something to help you.
All the best. Danni x
Awww ty Danni for your reply. Well what can I say re: our NHS. bloody disgusting how diwn hill it's gone.
But on a positive note I have begun to walk.
I started walking correctly on the 21st May which is my bf birthday. What a gift to get him.
Still using crutches outdoors for support.
What's new with you?
Take care.
Dawn. X
Hi again. I am SO pleased that you have started to walk and I bet your boyfriend is really chuffed for you. Be careful with the crutches tho' and no running or doing marathons too soon!Unfortunately, my RLS and spine pain is getting worse and I worry that I'm going to end up in a wheelchair. The new Opioid's I'm on are making me feel weird but maybe I will get used to them in a few week's. I feel I should phone the Dr. for another scan on my spine but I'm definitely becoming phobic about the medical profession!
When I first found out about the vertebral fracture's, my Dr. rang to say that the scan had been put to Australia because our hospital doesn't have enough Radiographer's! They diagnosed cancer, I asked how long, the Dr. said a year or 2 at the most and he " would be with me till the end " ! All of this on the phone! I tried to stay calm and 5 day's later he rang back to say that our hospital had reviewed the scan and it wasn't cancer but Osteoporosis and 2 wedge fracture's!
Bear in mind that our hospital had ignored a lung tumour on an Xray for 15 month's and Australia diagnosed it correctly....after 15 month's...2nd Xray! Who would you trust?!! It's 2 year's now since the 1st scan. They have made so many mistakes with me that I'm a wreck where before I painted, tutored an adult Art Group, walked our adorable 🐕 dog's and am now waffling! Bitter...who me.... ?! I try not to be !
For you, it has to be onward and up. I wish you everything good in life and send a big hug. Please be careful and keep positive!

wow Danni,
I’m so sorry you are suffering so many illnesses.
First I must tell you when I am suffering with unbearable pain I ask Jesus please be with me I know how he suffered on the cross. I continue to say Jesus I trust you Jesus I believe in you. It helps!
Besides that I recommend gabapentine, ashawanda and niacinimide powder 1/64 of a teaspoon 3x/ day. Only gabapentine requires a script.
I will pray for you improved comfort.
good luck and God Bless you.
Tony
