Looking for good gyneacological oncologist, Midlands, London... entire UK. Please, recommend somebody ( I am new to this forum).

Hello everyone

I have joint this community today. I am already with thyroid and endometriosis forums

I wrote a blog on thyroid forum a while ago about having diagnosis of ovarian neoplasm ( tumor) on my right ovary.

It was a distressing to find out and it is very distressing to deal with it on the top of thyroid problems.

I have found some doctor who could deal with my problem ( gynecological oncologist).

GP agreed to do appt. booking through NHS Choose and Book.

Unfortunately this good doctor whom I suppose to see became ill and is on long term sick leave now. It is another obstacle to overcome.

It was very hard for me to find somebody recommended and when I found the person he is off sick. I am speechless and exhausted, truly....

I am wondering if anyone have someone that can recommend that they have seen?

I am still looking. I left questions on other forums but so far no recommendations.

I have done the internet search of course and there is plenty of doctors out there but as the matter is very serious I need to see somebody who knows their job well.

Is there an end to these problems.???...

I need good gynecological oncologist ( one that deals with potential and diagnosed ovarian cancers)

Please let me know if you know somebody good.

Thank you.

Best wishes to all.

ps . I am sorry if I made typin errors, I am writing this but I am very exhausted.

Hi Edysia,

I'm sorry to read of your troubles. My suggestion would be to ring Ovacome, who I'm sure will have knowledge of Consultants in your area, and local centres of excellence.

Very best wishes,

Isadora.

Dear Edysia

I'm sorry to hear you've got so many health problems. I assume you are resident in the UK and have registered with a GP. I think the first thing you should do is see your GP who will make a referral for you to have the treatment you need. All the medical staff will have passed an approved training so I wouldn't want to recommend one over and above another, but if you see someone and want a second opinion you also have this option.

The alternative is to seek private health care. I'm aware of LOC (Leaders in Oncology Care) in Harley Street, London. theloc.com . I was very impressed with my experience of a visit there.

I hope this is helpful. It's horrible to feel worried like this.

Please let us know how you get on.

best wishes.

Annie

My gynae/obs/oncologist specialises in cancer of the reproductive system and has written some good papers on this, he is Dr Alexander-Sefre, currently at Northampton Hospital.

I too have thyroid problems which apparently is linked to OC, and he knew about this when I spoke to him, where other doctors haven't been so forthcoming. I would absolutely recommend him without hesitation. He also listens and answers any questions honestly.

Thank you Lily-Anne, I'm having trouble finding this Doctor online but he sounds like who i'm looking for! Is it Dr Farhad Alexander-Sefre? He seems to work in Glasgow and I found a Dr Marina Alexander-Sefre but that is a woman.

You can also try Prof Gordon Jason at the Christie, Manchester, I have his number if required. Love Paul x

Thank you Paul. I will check Prof Gordon xxx

Mr Mould and his team at UCLH in London are fabulous. I saw Miss Nicola Macdonald in clinic but Mr Mould did my surgery but all the team are fabulous. The nurses and staff at the clinic are phenomenal. May be worth having a look. Wishing you well,

Sheila. X

Yes it is that one, he is now at Northampton Hospital, but was at Glasgow and then he went to Essex, definitely worth a chat and a really nice man. His wife is Marina Alexander-Sefre, also a gynae but he specialises in womens cancers.

I was treated at Addenbrookes in Cambridge by a Consultant in Gynaecological Oncology called Mr Baldwin. He and his team were fantastic and I couldn't have asked for a better Surgeon. A lovely man who was so approachable and easy to talk to and I couldn't have asked for better care. Hope this helps, take care xx

I can highly recommend Mr Farhad Alexander-Sefre. I had a hysterectomy in Northampton on March 4th due to suspected O.C. Mr Sefre ( he shortens his name) was wonderful from start to finish, and I can not praise him and the nursing staff in the gynae ward highly enough. I am now 5 weeks post-op and have had no problems whatsoever. Thankfully my tumour proved to be benign so I was blessed.

MR Quentin Davies at Spire Leicester, but also the Leicester Royal Infirmary. He is the gynocologist/oncologist who operated on my Wife. Good luck.

I too was treated privately in the LOC (Leaders in Oncology Care) in Harley Street, London. theloc.com and they are truly wonderful. My oncologist is Maurice Slevin who is excellent but as a starter, call Prof. Just Stebbings' secretary, Lesley,on 0207 317 2573 and ask if he treats your type of cancer. If he does, he also has an NHS practice. If he doesn't, ask Lesley to refer you to someone else. Her email address is lbedford@theloc.com. Professor Stebbings is as near to a genius as you will find in the medical profession today. He is a visionary and thinks 'outside the box'. Good Luck xx

Tim Broadhead at St James' Leeds is a gynae oncology surgeon and the medical oncology team headed by David Jackson is also good. Tim Perren is a leading researcher in the field too. They are all at St James' Oncology centre, Bexley Wing, St James Hospital, Beckett St Leeds!

Good Luck!
