I know this is a little premature, but does anyone know hoe soon after finishing the treatment I can fly?

After you finish chemo? I have known people fly in between chemo sessions. I flew a couple of months after finishing and am about to do a long haul flight next month, which will be four months after.

Now that is fantastic news, we had to move our holiday which was free to move and pay to move the flights from September because of my first op, we moved it to April which was the furthest they could move it.

I was a bit concerned about blood clots, post chemo. Which chemo drugs did you have?

I had carbo,taxol and avastin. I was also concerned about blood clots. My oncologist said for the long haul to be sure I wore those stockings, but she felt it was not a big worry.

Where are you off to?

Tenerife, so only four and a half hours, but my chemo will finish just a couple of weeks before we go

I was told even for a short trip down to the south of France to wear the support stockings and to make sure a moved my legs around on a regular basis. My onc and GP were both happy with me flying, it was about 8 weeks after chemo, and just short of 4 months after my op.

Dear Lily-Anne

I didn't let chemotherapy stop me doing anything. I flew several times, I swam, I went camping, went to crowded places, and festivals where you might worry about hygiene, didn't stop seeing friends - even with coughs and colds and generally enjoyed myself.

I only had carbo-platin which has few side-effects and as it only takes an hour to administer it doesn't really encroach much upon your life. Having said that I'm lucky to have the constitution of an ox. I'd just see how you feel. Each one of us is different - but I'd aim to make the most of what you have.

I know you've been really worried about taking this step. I'm sure you've made a good decision and it won't be a bad experience. I hope it goes well for you.

Thank you, carboplatin seems to be the way I'm thinking of going too, I'd love to just be consultant driven but I just can't help question everything, Taxol seems too harsh for me, I know on my notes treatment is described as curative and that might not be the case without Taxol, but then again it might be, who knows...

I so want to go on holiday. In fact I'm sure that I will after reading these replies.
