hi all was wondering if anyone has had pelvic pain post surgery . Had surgery 5 weeks ago . After surgery no visible disease left . Last 2 days some pelvic pain . Has anyone else had pelvic pain post surgery

It is still early days and you are bound to get pain.. Try not to worry I know it is easier said than done...what the oncologist said to me was if I had pain for at last three weeks.. and not pain that comes and goes.. but stays and don't go away... Having said that I had pain in my lower back for over a year before he took notice...it was a recurrance near my spine.. It was pain that never went away.....I hope your pain will go soon.....I am thinking of you Love and best wishes.x G x

I had loads of pain as my pelvic muscles tried to attach and repair. If you had a vertical cut it will take many months for this to settle. I found a chiropractor was the answer. Mine explained exactly what was happening and checked that there was an anatomical explanation - it gave me so much support when all the doctors offered were pain killers that I didn't want to take.

He (the chiropractor) was also fantastic at keeping me active through the months of tendonitis and muscle pain that chemo caused me.

After surgery there are always possible problems like adhesions, so it is good to get things checked out, but I would try to find someone who has a real understanding of anatomy.

The advice above is really sensible.

I have had pain on and off for two and a half years ! My incision was re opened a second time however and it was huge to start with. I had borderline cancer and have been assured that there is nothing untoward going on. Thirty percent of women have pain long term after hysterectomies and we all have the shock of diagnoses , more significant surgeries and often chemo to deal with.

I found acupuncture very helpful as well as low dose medication, and have learned to live with it.

But five weeks is very very early , do try and take things very easy.

Hi Ally

I had my surgery in February last year and had all sorts of post-op pain, BUT in the last few weeks I have realised that most of the pain has gone and I think I am regaining some muscle tone. Think as it such major surgery it does take a time- they say six months but I think it is probably a lot longer . I had a horizontal cut by the way and was glued rather than stiched.

Ally, I am more than 2 years down the track and get quite a bit of pain. Lots of general discomfort due to adhesions, which is internal scar tissue. Also every couple of month fairly severe sustained pain for days, which make me think "this is it, I need to go to A&E", but so far I have been clear on check ups, and manage by taking anti-inflammatories and analgesics for a few days.
