What is the current view on using soya milk etc... - My Ovacome
What is the current view on using soya milk etc instead of dairy for ovarian cancer. I can't work out !.
Hi, I wouldn't recommend using any soya based products as they contain phytoestrogens. If you are looking for a milk alternative you could try almond or coconut milk. You can buy these in normal supermarkets, fresh from the chiller section or in the longlife milk section. Both are nice in tea
Thanks very much. The info on the net is contradictory. Will get some to try as love my oats in the morning and wanting to change from dairy.
I've just tried oat milk on my muesli and it's really nice! I'm also trying hemp milk which is ok as well - but not as nice as oat milk. I'm assuming they're both ok - let me know if anyone knows otherwise! I drink coconut water the few days after chemo as it's very good at rehydrating the body - but I end up getting my son to finish the carton as i get to the stage where I can't face another glass of it.

Thanks Liz will give that a try as well.
Hi!
I believe that a lot depends on whether your OC was oestrogen-linked. I always use Soya or Rice milk, I prefer it to cow's milk and it seems to suit my system better, but my OC wasn't oestrogen receptive. Some are, and in those cases, I think it's better to avoid soya products as they can mimic the effects of oestrogen.
Hope that makes sense

Hi there... I went to the Ovacome members day, and professor jane Plant was talking about this very subject... her book Your Life in your Hands is excellent and she has written a book on a dairy free regime.... I am a nurse and have OV, we have to have evidence based work, and this book has masses of evidence and references. Jane is a scientist Dr and had breast cancer with recurrances in lymph.. the healing was very obvious and dramatic.... milk is from an udder... any milk from theudder will be filled with hormones. Breast, Ovaries and prostate organs are ruled by hormones which fuels them.... go have a look, I have not had milk since my diagnosis 6 mths ago...... Gill
hi midwifeGill
thanks for this i will have a look at the book
i have stayed off milk for the past 2/3 weeks but i am aware that milk is in everything so will also look at the diary free regime
Thanks very much
I too have been off dairy since reading Prof Jane Plants book, worth reading, also look up Kris Carr and Crazy Sexy Diet!
Best wishes
