Shortness of breath
Dear Nikki

I think you need to check this out witht he hospital - it could be several tthings including an infection but do make sure you get it checked out. If you want to discuss this further do give Ovacome a ring

Hi Nikki
I had endless pleural effusions to both sides, and even though they kept draining the fluid it kept coming back. Eventually I had a Pleur x drain fitted that I could drain myself at home. The breathlessness is the worst thing for me about this disease. A chest infection will make it worse, but go and get an x ray to see if the fluid has returned.
In the end I had a major op on the side that played up the most ,as the lung had collapsed ,to repair the damage caused and re inflate the lung which was 100% successful. Thankfully the drain was removed and I have been great ever since, just cant do stairs! A procedure which involves talc can prevent it building up, this worked for me on one side but not the other.
Good luck x
Hi coco thank you so much for your information it has really helped. I have had the talc treatment but wonder if it has failed. I am due for chemo on Monday so will bring it to their attention, at least it seems there other things they can do, so thank you once again for your so helpful reply, what a great site this is , good luck hope we will soon be bounding up the stairs love nikkixx
