Hi DeefromLeeds, I wondered if you meant to say stage 1 to stage 3 rather than grade 1 to grade 3?

Hi Dee, I don't actually know the answer but thought it best to clarify the question in case anyone out there knows the answer.

If you ring the helpline, they will explain. Look it up on Ovacome.org.uk. It's different for everyone, and by no means inevitable to progress from one stage to another, I think. Best to check with the experts! I was stage 1, borderline, 10 years ago and am still well.

Dee, my answer to that is -how long is a piece of string ? We are all different, no 2 ovarian patients react the same and therefore in my thoughts you can't answer this question. As Wendy says 10 years later, she is still well.

All I will say is good luck and remain positive.

Hi Anna - I think I have confused people with my question:) - I'm actually in remission from stage 3c OC - I wanted to know how long it has taken me to go from a stage 1 to a 3 ? - I have found this site very up-lifting, I am a very positive person thank you for your kind words

Dee I don't think you jump from a 1-3 ...after you had your operation and the cancer was tested the Histology report came back at 3c that is the stage..they would then grade to low-med-high.... depending on the type of oc as there are a lot of different types. I don't think they would know how long you had it otherwise we would all be found early.

The stage determines how far it has spread. The grade determines what type.

When it was discovered that I had an ovarian mass the size of a very large melon I asked how long I have had it the consultant said " oh in excess of eighteen months" but they don't really know.

I was also told that the cancer had probably been growing for about 18 months but as Gwyneth says, they don't really know for certain. I had certainly been having various symptoms for at least 18 months prior to diagnosis. Glad to hear that you are in remission and feeling positive Dee - life is here to be enjoyed! Have a great day!
