HI Raza,

Sorry not much help as mine was high grade and has recurred, treatment was the same as I had the first time six doses of Carbo/Taxol given every three weeks I am now in remission. It does depend on how long a remission you were in, for instance if you were in remission for less than six months they wouldn't give the same chemo again but give a different one as it would have been seen not to work so they would then try something else.

Thanks for your reply...I had six rounds of carboplatin as a first line chemo,I was in remission for 9 months, now it is back ! I was wondering if they treat low grade cancer in a different way because it doesn't respond well to chemo !!!!

Hi raza,

You don't say anything about your situation, but I think any recurrence is treated the same - more chemo. As Gwyneth says, it depends on your original treatment and how you responded to it. there are plenty of tales on here of different chemo's, so browse through and have a look. Everyone is in the same boat and we all support each other, whatever.

After my surgery,I had 6 rounds of Carbo,after 9 months of remission it came back ! I am due to see my oncologist in 2 weeks,so I don't know what to expect!!

Hi raza, mine is stage 4 grade 2c and has returned and because it is within the year they wont give me carboplatin and taxol, i start having carboplatin and gemcitabine on 20th march just hopes it gives a bit longer remission good luck love nikkix

Hi Raza,

I think all ovarian cancers react differently, I know mine is reacting totally differently to what it was when I was first diagnosed 5 and 1/2 years ago. I was stage 111c. I am now due to start on my 10th different treatment, maintenance chemo being a way of life for me. My 2nd line of chemo was Plaxitaxol ad Gemcitibane.

Good Luck and don't worry, there is so much out there even for me who has already had so much treatment.

Hi Raza I'm stage 4 with a low grade cancer. I'm not in remission as my CT scan showed some residual cancer but my CA125 has continued to fall - its now 94 and was 134 last time I saw the consultant.

I won't be given any more treatment until I start getting symptoms again so I'm interested to hear what your consultant has to say. I was told that I would be given chemo again but only to stabilise my cancer again.

Thanks for your reply.I was surprised when the ct scan showed a recurrence,as I didn't feel any symptoms other then the IBS,witch I had for so many years !what are the symptoms that you should be looking for? I keep asking my oncologist the same question and never gave me a specific answer !

Please stay positive,at least we know that low grade cancer grows very slowly,it is something to be grateful for!!

by the way have you tried Femara? I have been on it for 2 months,we will know next week if it works!

Hi Raza, I was originally diagnosed grade 111c with survival of 40% .Even after all this time with secondaries in the lymph nodes, lungs, liver, kidney and abdomen I must must have been regraded, but I have never bothered to ask. My lung and lymph nodes are now in remission and the other tumours have shrunk by well over 50%, thanks to Avastin which I was on for 2 years and 10 months.

I knew I had symptoms, felt nothing with the lungs, I am asthmatic anyway so do cough a bit, but the kidney/liver certainly caused tremendous pain. Now we are worried about the colon hence the change of treatment. I do have pain with this and vomiting and nausea so I try to keep to a low flatulence diet and that helps. I start back on this Avastin again next Wed, this time with Xeloda.

With me my scans are good, well if there is no growth to me that is good, but I have a rising cancer marker and the Onc. is at a loss to know what is happening. This is why he is putting me on the above treatment, because of the stomach pains he is working on it possibly spreading to the colon. I have been told I will never be in remission, chemotherapy is a way of life, maintenance treatment, so I keep plodding onwards and upwards just trying to find a light at the end of the tunnel.

But hey I mustn't depress you, I am just trying to prove to you not to worry, there is so much out there. Even ladies on here who have survived 12 years with later stage cancer have given me so much hope.

I am similar to you raza as we have discovered on another thread. Low grade therefore they seem at a loss to know what to do. I would like to hear from anyone who has been successfully treated that has low grade cancer.

I was dignsd in jan this year stage 2 ovc. Low grade. Successful surgery. No other treatment as chemo resistant. Onc said if it comes back (60-70% chance it will not come back) will try op first then try chemo if that does not work then she said we are stuck.
