Stage 3 primary peritoneal diagnosed October 2021.

Previously: Carbo/taxol/avastin, carbo/caelyx, Niraparib.

I have just had treatment 2 of cycle 1 of carbo/gem and I have a very itchy red rash between my neck and just below my breast. I am using e45 and taking anti histamine at present. Has anyone got any words of wisdom on how to deal with it ? Katy

Hi. I’m in parallel with you but just having carboplatin. Have you spoken to your nurse? Is that a normal side effect or an allergic reaction? If the latter they need to know. I’m sorry I can’t help. Steroids might help.

Hello, What has your onco team said about the side effects? For your mouth do you use the mouthwash they gave you to avoid sores and such though your symptom sounds different. Pls always contact your team. Hoping you find the right relief and support!🙏

I had mouth ulcers with caelyx, the mouthwash that the team gave me worked for that. I have not experienced a vaginal issues. X

Hi, I’m sorry to read about your side effects. Are the treatments you are applying given by your oncology team? Have they seen your rash, if not and they are far away, can you send them photos of the reaction you are experiencing? They shd be in the know esp for the next round, which they may have to alter. I didn’t have those reactions, but one thing they did for me is to give the infusion slower, particularly taxol. So instead of three hours it was four hours. But my situation was different. Wishing you luck and speedy recovery from this stage! 🌷

I contacted the specialist emergency line at Oxford over the bank holiday weekend. I sent the nurse a photo and she had not seen that rash in that place. I am going to see my GP tomorrow, she used to work in Dermatology at Stoke Mandeville hospital so hopefully she will be able to help.🙏🤞

I have not tried carbo gem but had a similar response to Paclitaxel. I found that Aveeno Dermexa oat cream was more soothing than E45. The hospital suggested Piritin as this is probably an allergic reaction and increased my steroid dose. I would seek advice. Hope you soon feel more comfortable. Best wishes

I will see what my GP says as she used to work in Dermatology, but I will get some just in case. Thank you x

Hi NewtonEmma1900, I've recently finished carbo platin/caelyx but when I was on it my team gave me some cream called Uderly smooth to put on my itchy legs and it really helped me. I'm on Rubraca tablets now for maintenance but I still need the cream for my legs but I found it works for me, good stuff. Maybe you could ask your team about it. Oh one other thing, when I was on caelyx I constantly got thrush down below and I had to take pessarys quite often but it went when the treatment stopped. I hope this might help you. Take care and look after yourself xxxx.
