World Cancer Day

On World Cancer Day I just wanted to send loads of love to all you ladies, and also I know there are relatives of TS's on here too so sending love to you guys as well.

As we know, research into OC esp rare types needs more funding and as soon as I am able I will be fundraising to do a little bit of what I am able to do.

I will also be doing some awareness raising on Socials.

Also, while I am here, did you find that by sharing your story (if you did) that you got unwelcome or insensitive responses? If so how do you cope/respond? My primary aim in sharing my story is to educate, but people are already getting on my wick with careless language or thoughtless words

2 part answer: on social media, in LinkedIn I have close to 7k followers (open network) while my Facebook is a closed network of 500 friends and colleagues. Only a handful on both networks know about my cancer diagnosis. I have spread awareness so far without telling my story. But I have shared my fight with depression and anxiety on both platforms and received tons of support and lots of DMs for counselling and seeking guidance. Hence I trust my network to be emphatic. I will disconnect anyone who is not, tbh.

Funnily enough, I launched a YT channel just yesterday to chronicle my cancer journey. This will be completely public and hence I have to be ready for some offhand comments. Since it is my attempt to give back, I am ready for it.

LinkedIn is a great professional platform and influencers have followers ranging in ten thousands and hundreds of thousands esp those who are entrepreneurs, successful in corporate life and fintech influencers among others.
