This is a bit of a long post.I was diagnosed with a dermoid ovarian cyst several years ago,
the last time I saw a gynae specialist they told me it had disappeared so I was happy.
As past three months I have had a lot of issues with my bowels and now also my kidneys.
My GP asked me to do two poop samples, one for inflammation and one for blood,
both tests were positive and I've been put on a waiting list for a colonoscopy,
the bowel issues have eased but I'm now pestered with urgency to pee and feeling like I haven't peed properly.
I have just finished one course of antibiotics for urine infection and now doctor has put me on a different antibiotic.
I have been trying to lose weight but it's been remarkably easy,I've lost three and a half stones since beginning of May.
I know Dr Google is never a good idea but I admit to checking out about dermoid cysts and it seems from what I've read that dermoid cysts don't dissolve or disappear?
I know that my cyst was five CMS plus and calcified so I did wonder how it might have just disappeared.
Would it be ok to request another scan and also the Ca125 blood test or would my GP think I'm just being anxious?
I have finished my periods two years ago(I'm in my late 50s) but my back is achy with period pain but maybe that's connected to the bowel issues or kidney issues.
I know that something is wrong but not sure what to do.

Please go back to your GP and ask for a ca125 to be done. You have every right to be anxious! The dermoid cyst may or may not be related but you should be a priority for investigation until it becomes clear that this is not ovarian cancer.
I have said this rather a lot recently but you must act, the sooner you are diagnosed the better chance you have of a cure. And if it isn’t OC you will be on the pathway to finding out what is causing these symptoms xx
Thank you for posting about your experience in our forum. It sounds like you have a sense that something is not quite right, and our members have offered some good advice to go back to your GP about this.
We would advise discussing any new symptoms, such as your urgency to pass urine and feeling like your bladder hasn't emptied, as well as your weight loss since May. You have nothing to lose by trusting your intuition and asking your GP whether they can perform a CA125 test for you and refer you for an ultrasound scan. Often, symptoms of ovarian cancer are down to other, less serious conditions, however it is very important to get checked out.
If you would like to plan for this appointment, perhaps by making a note of any new symptoms or bodily changes, or to list any questions you would like to ask, we would be happy to help you prepare for this. Do feel free to give us a call on 0800 708 0054, or send us an email at: support@ovacome.org.uk. We're here from Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm.
