2nd chemo over

Coming to the 5th day

Rough few days anyone else in the lonquex injection, I did get pain meds a bit better this time , first round I had bone pain in a scale of 10 this time a 5

Does everyone else suffer with it at some degree.

Also I’m not a big drinker but I went for dinner last week and I would have loved a beer is it a big no no to have any and can ye tell me why. It has never bothered me before it’s like now I can’t have it I want it haha

Hope ye all are doing well x

Well done on getting through your chemo cycle..there’s always something, pain or tummy problems, it just seems to keep coming with the surprises!

You definitely need strong pain meds for bone pain but I only got it once, although I was ready for it every subsequent cycle!

Re: alcohol, I think I had a small glass of beer during recovery week sometimes. It puts a strain on kidneys and liver, which is why most abstain but there’s nothing like doing something a bit naughty!

Hope all goes well for you xx

Yeah the bone pain nearly gone I usually get 5 days worth of pain but it halted this time probably need stronger do you think?

Oh I see I didn’t know why you couldn’t drink alcohol but isn’t it funny wouldn’t bother me any other time lol

Hi Le-gra143, yeah I think a bit of bone pain is par for the course unfortunately, glad you were able to deal with it better this time around though. I think half of it is knowing what to expect, everything that follows your first round of chemo is a horrible surprise but each time after you know what you're probably going to be dealing with. The problem with alcohol is that it is processed by your liver and kidneys, and they're already working really hard to process the chemo drugs. I had the occasional drink during chemo though, my theory was that they must be working harder during weeks 1 & 2 so you deserve a treat during week 3 when there's not so many drugs in your system. Try and plan your cravings for a beer to coincide with week 3! Xx

what is the Claritin for?

When do I take it

They gave me Telfast

I can’t find why they give a antihistamine with meds

I think you replied to the wrong person as I hadn't mentioned claritin but I know they gave me an antihistamine (piriton) before chemo to reduce the risk of having a bad reaction to the chemo :)

hi, I’m in the US, but was told to take Claritin for five days beginning on treatment day for the bone pain I had while receiving treatment. I believe it may be Clarityn where you are and it should not be the decongestant version. It made a huge difference for me. Best wishes.
