Mine was just before Christmas, so it was a bit of a wait, because of Christmas and New Year Bank holidays. My CNS was my saviour, when I had a wobble, she was on the phone and reassured me. They’re wonderful people in my experience. Have you got an identified Clinical Nurse Specialist, with a voicemail number to reach her? If not, ask about it when you’re in hospital. I got my first visit from her just before my op and she was there, popping in and out to see me throughout my stay, then at my follow up appointments afterwards. I think my oncology appointment was about 6 weeks after my operation. I’m still in touch with my CNS who set up the Gynae oncology support group that I now volunteer with, she is now Deputy Director of Oncology Nursing for 3 hospitals. She’s still lovely.

You can do this, you will feel so much better when it’s all underway. I promise you. You may not have been allocated a link CNS yet but you will be, if it’s the same system where you live. It may be when you get admitted to hospital. It may depend on which hospital trust you’re with…or if you’re in a devolved nation? xx

It depends where you are. I’m not sure which hospital you’re in.

Our local team has a 24 hr voicemail which is picked up during working hours. They’re usually working in clinics but will get back to you.

Ovacome have a helpline in working hours which is very good. They’re on 0800 008 7054 or 07503 682 311. They may be quicker to respond than the CNS team.

My surgeon came on the ward the next day and said it had gone really well. I also had a Clinical Nurse specialist who saw me every day. About 5 or 6 days later the oncologist came on the ward to tell me all had gone well. It’s a big worry, overwhelming but I am sure you will be in good hands and really cared for. I confess I didn’t read any of my paperwork…however as I’ve said the team will be wrapped around you. To reiterate another response the clinical nurses are wonderful. You will feel so much better when you wake up afterwards.

I don’t the CNS are 24/7 but check that out.

Good luck 🥰

Good morning, I waited just a week after my biopsy. I actually don’t remember get any results after my debulking and my latest surgery I have waited 5 weeks. They came back to me and there having another look so still waiting. I think it just depends on how much backlog pathology has. I hope this helps give you an idea and I hope you get your results soon xx

6 weeks i think on the first meeting with yr surgery team

Hi, I got my results 3 weeks after laparotomy. Had clear cell complex carcinoma. Consultant did come round morning after surgery to assure me all went well. Oncologist 10 days from results and adjuvant chemo 5 days after seeing the consultant, so all very quick.

I was updated as my wife had surgery, and then immediately after by the surgeon. CA 125 levels were checked by the oncologist about 6 weeks after surgery.
