When you have monthly tests for chemo/parps etc, they check for red cells etc don t they. Ive been found to have B12 deficiency which changes the cells, wouldnt this have become apparent during the tests ?

Hi Rosebine, from my experience B12 deficiency won't be picked up in your normal FBC test (this measures your Haemoglobin, White Blood Cells, Neutrophils etc). When my Haemoglobin levels dropped they tested my Iron and B12 separately.
I agree with Halo. B12 is a separate test, usually along with folates and has to be requested separately. It is not included in a routine full blood count.
I have B12 injections every 3 months which is a simple solution to the deficiency.
I didnt know that I sort of assumed a full blood count covered all bases ! Ive had 5 injections to date not felt any benefit though so far.
Do you mean five B12 injections. Rosebine? I don't feel any different, but I presume they are keeping my B12 topped up. Emma x
