Which parp are you referring to?

hello Tealgirl.

There are several different PARPs and they seem to be very individually tolerated.

I took a PARP for several months. I had minimal side effects that bothered me though my liver wasn’t too happy and I had a week off and a dose adjustment after which liver was happy. So the PARP did not stop my usual daily activities with side effects. If you have been offered one than my advice would be try it and see how it works for you. Keep in close touch with your team as there are likely to be dose adjustments along the way. They might start you on a low dose and increase it as they work out the right level for you. The PARP didn’t work for me however there are many ladies on the site it has worked well for…

so give it a go..you can always come off it!

Hi. I’m on Olaparib. I found the side effects quite difficult for the first few months but they gradually got much milder. Fatigue is the main one now. I’ve never been on the full dose. Am now on 300 mg.

I was on Niraparib for just over 3 years with no side effects. Good luck, I hope it works for you x

I was on Olaparib for over two years. Fatigue was the main side effect but I worked loads and had a great life then. Back on chemo now and wishing I could go back to those days. I don’t think I realised how lucky I was during those years.

Good luck with your decision.

so happy you were able to take it so long. I just got my cat scan results and they look stable. Hopefully I will be able to continue on the drug. There are so many new things going on out there so hopefully you will get something that works well for you
