watch and wait - how long?

my mom met with her oncologist today to review her scan. She’s 10 months out since her last treatment for her first reoccurrence. There is a node that grew by .5 cm and they suggested more monitoring, continue avastin and if any further changes to start chemo. Anyone had a similar experience? How long were you able to stay off treatment? Any suggestions for her to do in the interm? Feels like a sitting duck

It may not be a bad thing…I think it depends how you look at it. I was on watch and wait for 2.5 years… not symptomatic but just enjoying myself. It did get me eventually of course but I wouldn’t have missed that time. If your Mum has symptoms that’s different but there’s research that suggests chemo shouldn’t be given too early in recurrence. So hopefully she will be able to enjoy this time, let the clinicians do the worrying xx
