Ca 125 recurrance

I am in stress 😞 my mom have OC 2017 stage 2b surgery and 6 chemo, till 2021 remission, 2021 may recurrance ca 125 220, get again same chemo ca was 24. After 5 month april 2022 again recurrance ca 125 -302. She get again same chemo after 1st chemo 235, after second 126 after 3rd 115 :(( only 10 points less… that mean that chemo didnt work anymore? :(((

No, it doesn't mean its not working any more - the CA125 is falling, so the chemo is doing something, but bear in mind the initial big drop is always followed by a smaller drop, and then an even smaller drop with each chemo dose. So if the CA125 is, say, 236 after the second dose, it will likely only drop by a third at most, so to about 150-200 after the third dose, then another small fall after the fourth and so on. But if your mother had the same chemo this time round as she had the first time, there may only be what they call a 'partial response', meaning its not worked so well as it did the first time round, that's what's happened to me this time.

And what did u do? Do they change chemo?

Nothing yet - it likely means I will need more treatment sooner, so maybe in another 3-6 months I will need more chemo, 9-12 months if I'm lucky, but probably not the carboplatin I've had twice already, they'll probably want to try a different chemo. I was supposed to have Caelyx and carboplatin together this time round, but I had a major reaction to the first few drops of Caelyx as it went into the vein and they had to stop it, so I can't have that one. Unfortunately, if the OC comes back after initial treatment, it will come back again and again...
