My mom have ovarian cancer now is her 2nd recurrance she get 3 chemo her CA 125 went down after 2 chemo from 300 to 116 is it ok? or not enough, after 3rd we wait results today! i am affaraid.
have question regarding blood tests do you usaly make c-reaktive protein and Erytrocyte Sedimentation Rate those both are inflammatory markers, i read also that they shows cancer .... my moms C-reaktive is 16 ( upper is 8 ) and ESR is 71, last time was 60 ( norm is 30 ) i am affraid why it is like that? ocologist said that is not his case, she checked only Ca 125

Hiya - that is good. Any large decrease is a good thing. It means the treatment is working. I hope it continues to go down with further treatment. I can’t answer the blood test question I’m afraid. All my best to you & your mum. Hang in there!
ESR is rarely checked these days even in people without cancer because its so non specific - it would be raised if you had an earache or toothache, or you had a large bruise from falling over, so its not a lot of use, it just measures general inflammation in the body. CRP might be used, but when you're on chemo, not so much because the chemo causes inflammation anyway. Looking at my bloods during my last run of 6 chemo, it looks like they checked the CRP at the start and again 6 weeks after chemo finished, and that's it. ESR not checked at all.
