Hi, I was stage 1c2 (but grade 2 so medium grade) endometrioid epithelial ovarian cancer and due to the tumour rupturing during surgery was offered 6 sessions of chemotherapy (carboplatin only) (once every three weeks) and found this to be very manageable.
They offer the chemo to mop up any cancerous cells that may have escaped during surgery due to the tumour rupturing.
If anybody were to ask my advice (not that you are) I would say take the carboplatin. There is no hair loss with carboplatin.
Wishing you all the best as you begin your journey. I have recently moved on to three monthly monitoring via blood tests.
thankyou for your reply. sending love and best wishes for the rest of your journey. xx
Hi. Think it's not that unusual for early stage low-grade or borderline tumors. When I was first diagnosed with stage 3a mostly borderline serous tumours (and a few low grade cells, which according to my current oncologist could be regarded as stage 1c low-grade OC), surgery plus watch & wait after was the treatment recommended by my UK onco team. So I did just that.. no chemo. That said, my German surgeon team had recommended chemo just to be thorough, but they also said I could go either way.
Wish you luck for the surgery and may you be done with it afterwards.

I had an endometriod adenocarcinoma stage 1c2 grade 1.
Was offered carboplatin only x6.
But told 90% chance surgery was enough and chemo would add on 6-8% on top of the 90%
I managed one cycle but had tinnitus and mild hearing loss along with neuropathy as well after the first cycle.
By this point my anxiety and stress was already through the roof and I was offered no mental health support so I decided to quit chemo.
1.5 years later in still doing ok 👌
So sorry to hear you experienced this. I too had very mild neuropathy after my first treatment but no side effects after the subsequent five. I sometimes wonder if our body reacts to the first treatment the most.
Great to hear you're still doing ok.
Sorry to hear of your plight. Following a diagnosis in 2016 of OC 1c3, I had a hysterectomy. My tumour ruptured weeks before the surgery was performed and I consider myself fortunate to have avoided sepsis. During this time I had tachycardia and my body was covered in a rash. I also began ballooning to the size of a pregnant woman carrying octuplets to full term.
I was offered chemo to destroy any cancer cells that were lurking within my body. I turned it down despite being advised otherwise by my consultant. I have not had a recurrence.
Through hours of research my recovery has involved a health regime to boost my immunity with diet and exercise management. I can only speak about my experience and trust what ever you decide will also provide a good outcome for you.
Hi meaty
I was diagnosed with low grade stage 3b. So the cancer had visibly spread throughout my abdomen. I had surgery but no other treatment. A long discussion about chemo for low grade and the oncoligist recommended delaying until my symptoms re surfaced.
At the time no treatment other than chemo was available. Now there are other options such as hormone inhibitors for maintenance.
It’s harder to gauge what to do about further treatment for low grade. It can remain stable for some people. But it’s not yet known how to predict whose will.
If you don’t have further treatment then ask about how you will be monitored to check you’re comfortable with it.

thankyou. for your reply . I think my surgeon is thinking watch and wait .as low grade is as responsive . Good luck for the future xx
Yes I have 6 sessions of chemo after my op. Maybe because previously I have had bowel cancer. 🤔
