Antiviral infusion

Hi ladies

I had my 4th covid booster on Monday 24th Jan, and had a slight temp next day, then on Wednesday developed a cough, I did a LFT at home and found I was positive for Covid, so I completed the PCR test I was sent through the post. Sent that off and it has also come back positive, now I am being offered the antiviral infusion , I'm just slightly worried about having it. My consultant has said I will need to stop taking my PARP medication (Olaparaib), for 5 days.

Should I be worried to take the infusion? Is it safe etc...?

If anyone has had the infusion, or knows about the infusion, please let me know how it went, is it worth having it and having to stop the Olaparib?🙏🏽🙏🏽

Hi I have been told to have the new antiviral meds if I get Covid but no mention of stopping Olaparib. To be honest though I doubt stopping for 5 days will have a detrimental effect but you should speak with yr onc about this. Good luck xx

Hi Katmal-UKThank you for your reply, I had a message from the chemo Red card to say they had emailed my consultant and she had said to stop taking the Olaparib for 5 days.

I took the antiviral med tAblets, Monulparivir, when I got Covid in Dec. Seemed to work within 10 hours. I can’t comment on infusion. I was not on Olaparib then. I understand it is not unusual to pause Olaparib, according to my CNS. I would go with Katmal’s. Advice. My Covid was very mild.

I paused Olaparib for about two weeks hen I was rushed to hospital with a gall stone that had migrated into my bowel .No ill effects CA125 still 4.

If they mentioned infusion, they may mean antibodies, which are given as an infusion via a vein - anti viral treatment is just pills you take at home. I'd prefer the antibody infusion, but the anti viral meds are supposed to be safe, or as safe as any medication ever is.
