I have been on Naraparib since end of July this year. I had the same thing, on it about 5-6 days and my blood pressure went up, this only lasted a few days and it came back down again. I was told the Naraparib takes about a week to really get going on your system and if you have to take a break from it, it takes the same amount of time for it to dissipate as well.

Due to my platelets dropping quite low after being on it for 3.5 weeks, I had to take a 2 week break and restart on the lower dose. As I was advised…my platelets dropped even more after being off it for one week…and then shot right back up at week 2, so I then restarted and have had almost no side effects and bloodwork has been good for the entire 4 weeks now.

I know I had all sorts of thoughts and feelings going on in my head constantly when I first started on it…and that possibly contributed to my increased blood pressure, but it has been all good now that I am on lower dose.

Just keep track of all the information and mention it to your doctor…they are the most qualified to advise if anything needs to be changed, etc.

Hugs & Prayers to you!😊

Trish

My blood pressure has been an on going problem from my first treatment paxo/carbo and Avastin. It went through the roof then medication i was given to bring it down caused it to drop too low andI had a fall resulting in a broken fibula and serious ligament damage to ankle. Due to chemo they couldn't pin the ankle so ended up in plaster and non weight baring for 12 weeks!! Was taken off all BP medication until after debulking surgery. As soon as I was back on Avastin it went sky high again. This time they took 4 weeks monitoring to get the dose and mix right. Have carried on needing bp meds even though Avastin stopped in May and Carbo started back a month ago so possible long lasting damage. I still monitor myself twice a day. Just insist if they are to give meds to bring it down you monitor it closely. I now have chairs place around so if I get any dizziness I can sit quickly.

Hello. I'm on Niraparib since June 20, 16 months. First weeks wth 300 mg my platelets dropped and had to stop for 2 weeks. Restarted with 200mg and everthing is ok but bloodpressure is a little up and I have 1 tablet of "enalapril" (name in Spain) 3 times a week. Also I have a little insomnia sometimes

I am very happy because Niraparib is working very well and my Ca125 is very stable.

Been on niraparib since March and BP went up at first. Started taking 2 turmeric every day and it settled to reasonable levels. Might be worth a try x

Hi, I had a sudden increase in blood pressure after I'd been on niraparib for a while - in my case the drug had interfered with kidney function, which is a known side effect, and that can cause BP to spike. If your BP continues high, please ask for a kidney function test, to avoid any permanent damage. Good luck!
