All going on here I can tell you! So as you all know I had the emergency loop colostomy about 6 weeks ago. All was going well.
Friday 2nd July had some low level stomach pain around 5pm and then the stoma prolapsed about 4 inches. Long story short, emergency op at local hospital for a refashioned stoma on Saturday 3rd July. Now transverse end stoma. Discharged 7th July but some low level stomach pain which came and went. Today mostly spent on my back with continously more low stomach pain and actually pooping from rectum. How can this be?
Left messages on answer machine for stoma nurses based at the hospital to pick up first thing in the morning.

Oh good grief. What a lot you are going through. Get back on to the stoma nurses if they don't reply to your message. I hope all gets sorted quickly. All the very best x
I had a transverse loop colostomy and I did occasionally pass stool through my rectum which I was told was normal and nothing to worry about so maybe it is just clearing. You definitely need answers from a colorectal team though. I always found the stoma nurses at my local hospital brilliant and they got me appointments with the consultant very quickly. Hope all goes ok. X x x
As someone who is living with a stoma (3.75 years now) as a result of a resection and wound becoming infected with a multi resistant bug, I very much empathise with you. My bowel shut down and 6 days after radical surgery I had an emergency Hartman's and a stoma. I had issues in the early days but they were not the same as yours so, sorry, I can't really help. The only thing I can say is that I was told I might get some leakage of stools from back passage for a while but it would stop eventually. This might be what is happening to you. I do know the gut takes quite a while to settle and get properly functional and might involve some pain but not excruciating pain. My stoma (Sid) is fairly well behaved these days all things considered but I do pray that your issues will be resolved quickly. Your concerns are valid and if this persists do please pester the nurses/surgeon until you get some answers. 🤗 Jackie.
