Try to keep cheerful we are all suffering a horrid disease but today’s announcement seemed even worse.

Oh well I’ve got lots of food in the freezer for the next few months.

We have to look on the bright side, we won’t get any infections from our beautiful children and grandchildren. Always look on the bright side.

It is what it is. Most of us have had to rely heavily on the nhs for years. They have been there for us. This is such a small price to pay, not seeing our loved ones at Christmas. We do it to enable the doctors and nurses etc. to not be overrun. A lot of staff in hospitals will not be with their loved ones at Christmas and often never are. I personally do not want to hear anyone making a fuss. So please enjoy the day as best you can and think about those in hospital trying to keep covid victims alive. You are right there will be a silver lining somewhere, be glad of that.

I completely agree, my husband and my family are my life and everything that I live for and every reason I will continue to fight this awful disease. I am currently on 3rd line chemotherapy, stage 4OC.Of course it is sad we can not be together but we have more ways of staying in touch today than when inward a child and you has to run to the telephone box to call your nan or your aunt.

We are where we are because of the people who refused to do as they were asked and now we are living with the consequences of their actions.

I also don't want to hear people making a fuss I am just glad that my family are safe and well and I am determined to be here for Christmas 2021 and I might even push the boat put and have a very small glass of something fizzy (not lemonade). A very happy Christmas to you all, stay safe, stay well. X

Agree - disappointing though it must be for those that took seriously the unicorn idea of taking five days off from Covid restrictions, it isn't really any surprise, what's happened. Though I do feel this decision over Christmas could have been made a few days ago, without waiting till so close to Christmas, there are people round the country who have been isolating in order to be able to visit their relatives, it seems terribly unfair that they were led to believe it was possible.

But there is a silver lining - the Oxford Astrazeneca vaccine is expected to be approved on 28th or 29th December, with roll out beginning shortly afterwards, and we already have 50 million doses of that ready to roll...

Here's to a better year next year🎉
