Tumour shrinkage and ascites

Hello does any one else have experience of tumour shrinkage following 3 cycles of carboplatin/taxol? But still a large amount of ascetic fluid showing on CT scan?

Surgeon wants to operate (which is good) but seems unsure why there is still so much ascetic fluid?

I have ascites which so far has not responded to 3rd chemo. I have to get a parecentesis every 3 weeks as fluid buildup is huge. Oncologist says fluid should go down eventually with ongoing chemo. There are some clinical trials in Europe about a new drug that is specifically targeting ascites if you have certain biomarkers. My oncologist states ascites are due to leaky cardiovascular caused by the cancer. Id do some more research and talk to your doc

I think focus on the tumour shrinkage.... the ascities will follow. I thought my pleural effusion would never dry up but it has now my cancer markers are down. Having surgery will help your remaining chemos to be more effective.... so if they are offering , I’d go for it! xx
