Small Bruises

Hi all you lovely ladies. Just a quick question. Have any of you noticed small bruises appearing on your fingers after you finished chemo? I haven't had chemo for 6 years but I get small bruises on my fingers. They seem to come from nowhere or when I use a door handle, simple things. Sometimes, two a day, sometimes days with none. I've had them for a long time now. They disappear the same day I get them.

I think it's just getting older

Thinner skin and fragile veins! I remember it used to happen to my mum too.

I must admit I do get these bruises on fingers as you say opening a door or for me sometimes opening a jar that is difficult. I put it down to burst blood vessels just accepted it, as thought it was to do with age. I have never related it to chemo although I am having treatment at the moment.

I think you're right. It's all to do with age. It's just a co-incidence that it all happened at the same time. Thanks for your reply. x

Hi Zena, yes I have them. Have done for years but don't remember when they started - before or after Chemo - but I've never connected it with Chemo which I first had almost 14 years ago. I think it's old age. My Mum had them, too, and she'd never had Chemo, neither has my friend who has them. One of the joys of getting old, along with badly bruised shins🙄. My Mum stopped wearing skirts because she was always bruised. I think I'm just clumsy, ha ha.

I'm back on Chemo again, various things have grown but others stayed the same. The lump on my sternum getting very big and sticks out a lot, as well. The first Chemo session, three weeks ago made me very bad, with the worst Diarrhoea ever, really ill for three days and I decided I'd have to stop. Couldn't have 8th day top-up. CSN said maybe I could continue with a reduced dose so I said I would continue if I could. Then Onco said I was already on a 25% reduced dose, both Carbo and Gem, so couldn't reduce anymore. Decided to continue, had blood transfusion yesterday, the day after chem 2 and now I wait to see how I go. Fingers crossed this time I'll be a bit better. Had Radio Therapy in my pelvis last Autumn which seems to have stopped the leg Lymphoedema a bit, though I have to wear compression tights or shorts. Trouble is, the RT has played havoc bladder and bowel-wise, need to rush to the loo urgently.

That's not moaning that's just telling how it is and it sounds pretty miserable. I'm sorry to hear it. I do hope it all improves for you soon. I'll be thinking of you. xxx

Thats not moaning you poor thing sounds like your having a tough time

Its not easy is it, but l think its does help to get off your chest on this site

I seem to get them on my my hands and the front on my legs just looks like blood under the skin there not sore but don't

Look very nice mine take ages to go.

I finished my chemo last Oct l don't know what causes them.

I think it's just something we'll have to live with. Mine hurt but mainly because of where they are. They don't even last a few hours usually. It's another mystery. xx
