Update on Lumpy 2

Ok, here we go!!!! I'll be doing 25 days of Proton radiation (5 days a weex, 5 weeks) to shrink lumpy and take care of any critters still lurking in the node and nodes in that string. I had a consultation, simulation, and dry run in prep for radiation. A mold was made of my leg position so the beam can hit the right area. (Inguinal mode). The beam is then computerized so I only have to drop my pants, climb on table, beam! Get off table. Put on pants. Go home. At hospital 20 minutes top.

Well, yesterday had a mind of its own...Day one of radiation treatments just proved 2020 can muck up anything. I was almost done with a 7 minute treatment, laying on a hard table, when computers went down. I was told to not move until the issue was fixed. 45 minutes later I had to be pried off that table. My muscles had frozen. My back hurt. I had a death grip on the plastic ring they have me holding onto to keep my arms still. My legs were in the mold and I could only wiggle my toes.

So hoping today goes better. It should. Oh, and since I am also supervising virtual schooling for my grandsons, it was a relief to get home and they were glued to their computers. Good boys!

Hugs to all. I think you guys are keeping me sane!

Thank you! This radiation will only have minimal side effects ( red, dry skin) so it's preferable to chemo again!

Cripes! That was a tough start.

You must be superwoman to be helping with your grandkids during all this.

I hope today is going better!

They are 14 and 11 so minimal supervision is needed. My job so far seems to be providing snacks and making sure the youngest doesn't wander away when he's bored. Lol

It’s great that you can work with your grand kids and have that to keep you going through the crazy stuff. Hope the radiation goes better tomorrow!

Much better today. I got home quickly and the kids were actually at their lunch. So it's working out!

Gosh, what a disaster! You must have felt so uncomfortable. Things can hopefully only get better.

Good luck with the grandchildren's virtual schooling. It's not always easy for them to stay focused in front of a screen; unless it's a game of course!

All the best!

Today went better and I was home inside 45 minutes. Hospital is 8 minutes away and they are very prompt with the scheduling. So hopefully it can all settle in to a familiar routine!
