Hello Ladies,

I received a letter this morning saying that my chemo carbo/gem will start in Friday 26 June, which is good news, although I am feeling a little apprehensive.

Hi. I understand being apprehensive but taking action to kick the cancer is the main thing. I hope everything goes very well for you! xxx

Hi Caleda

Great that you are starting so soon and getting onto the road to recovery.

I was unbelievably scared when I started Chemo, dreading being sick, feeling really ill etc.

The actual event was painless - lovely nurses and receptionists, happy to answer any questions (I was particularly worried about needing the loo and you just unplug yourself and wheel the drip with you!), kept supplied with tea and biscuits, and sandwich at lunchtime. Took ages so take some form of entertainment with you.

After effects for me have been very mild - a couple of days after the chemo I ache and very feel tired for usually two or three days, but no sickness or even feeling sick. I was horribly constipated for four days after the first cycle but left off one of the anti sickness tablets which is known to cause it, and have been fine since (my fourth treatment is on Monday). Hair started coming out after the second treatment so I just hacked if off as short as possible with kitchen scissors.

I may have been lucky with the side effects so far, as it affects people differently so keeping my fingers crossed that you are okay.

Good luck for 26th.

Lesley

Hi Lesley,

Thank you so much for your long email, much appreciated.

This is my second line, the first lot was 4 years ago now which was carbo /taxol. This chemo will carbo/gem,so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it works.

You are right though the chemo nurses are really lovely & make you feel as relaxed as you can be. Because this is recurrence I suppose there is always doubt in ones mind incase it does not work.

I hope that you are doing ok, & that you get good results.

Take care, Caleda xx

Soooo sorry - I thought it was your first and you were worried. Didn't know you were an old hand (which is a shame).

So far I seem to be doing okay - almost normal CA125 after the second session which I hope is a good sign!

All very best wishes that you really zap it this time round!

Hi Lesley,

It was my fault really as I should have said it was a recurrence.

Great that you are doing so well, long may it continue for you.

Love, Caleda xx
