Hello

Following some recent feedback, we thought it would be helpful to post a reminder about who can see your posts on the forum and your options for visibility.

Underneath the box where you write your post, you’re asked whether you want the post to be visible to anyone or only to members of the community. If you choose ‘Anyone,’ the whole post will be visible to anyone who visits the forum and will also show up in search results, both on HealthUnlocked and search engines such as Google.

If you limit visibility to members of the community, only community members will be able to see the whole post, your username and replies to the post. Visitors who aren’t members of the community will only see the title and first few lines of the post. Your username and replies to the post will be hidden and the post won’t show up in searches on HealthUnlocked or search engines. Restricted posts have a padlock symbol next to the title.

If you want to change the visibility of one of your existing posts, you can do so by editing the post (support.healthunlocked.com/... .

Replies to posts are visible in the same way as the post itself, so if you reply to a post without a padlock your reply will also be visible to non-members. Replies to posts visible to community members only are hidden from non-members.

HealthUnlocked has information about visibility of posts and protecting your privacy on the forum more generally at:

support.healthunlocked.com/...

support.healthunlocked.com/...

We hope this is helpful. If you have any questions, please get in touch with our Support Service.

Best wishes

I have some posts that I made that show up on a google search and I would like to remove them. I made them when I first joined the forum and didn’t realise that this would happen. They were posted around the end of 2017 but I can’t see any way to edit them now? Many thanks, Wendy

Hello Wendy

Thank you for your reply. If you go into your profile you will see your previous posts. When you open a post, there are options underneath it to reply, like, report or 'More.' Clicking on the 'More' option will open a drop-down menu. Choosing the 'edit' option will let you edit the post, including the visibility setting.

If you need any further help, please let us know.

Best wishes

Thank you for this useful information. I had wondered wheth replying to a post without a padlock meant my reply could be public, as well.

Best wishes, Solange 😊
