Morning friends .

It's me again Ann! As some of you know I started Taxol on Tue and I'm due my second one this Tue. Can anybody tell me how long before the asites started to go, only last couple of days I feel it's really bothering me again and feel bloated, it's been about a month since I had it drained.

Love to you all my life savers

Ann xx

I had mine drained 6 weeks ago prior to my first doze of chemo 5 litres due second dose of chemo on Tuesday but needing drained again not sure how long after chemo I can have this done. I don't think it goes away on its own but like you would be happy to hear others advice

Hi Molly.

Does it make you feel very unwell and nauseous? I can't eat .

Ann I don't feel sick but a couple of spoonfuls and I'm full. I know they like your stomach to be really taught before drainage but mine wasn't and still drained off 5 litres I see my consultant on Monday and will be booking myself in for the following week what good is Xmas without a good feast. Book your drainage now Ann you should it have to suffer💕

DearAnne,

I had terrible ascites plus a pleural effusion that crushed my lungs. (Partially collapsed both).

The situation was dire, because I could not eat and I could hardly drink more than a sip of water.

Yes, I was terribly nauseous, but finally managed to control that with Cyclazine.

After my first Infusion of Carbo and Taxol, 2 drainage dates, I had to be hospitalised to stabilise me with intravenous vitamins and minerals, and fluids and a blood transfusion.

I was miserable from the ascites and the pleural effusion.

I felt as though I was going to explode.

When suddenly, at the end of the third week after the one Carbo/taxol Infusion, the fluid in my chest and abdomen drained away all by itself -meaning, that the Chemo had destroyed enough cancer already that the ascites disappeared!

What a relief!

Hope it happens to you soon.

Best wishes,

Laura

Hi Ann,

On Monday I had my third dose of weekly taxol, I had ascites drained 2 weeks prior to the first dose and it continued to build up and I have just had another drain this Thursday (3 days after my 3rd taxol dose). I requested a drain 2 weeks before this and was encouraged to wait another week for the chemo to kick in which I did but wish I had been more insistent (and I will should I be in the same position in future), instead I ended up waiting 2 weeks for the drain as it was another 5 days before it was requested and then the wait until I could be fitted in. I had just over 8 litres drained this week which, naturally, meant beforehand I was exceedingly uncomfortable. I spent 2 weeks bed or sofa-bound (apart from hospital trips) and hardly eating or drinking. I am now working on building up my strength again so I can continue family life.

My advice would be to be insistent and ask your medical team to get a drain booked in when you anticipate you will need it and assure them you will cancel if you don't need it. I will be talking to my consultant later this week and ensuring I do the same in future.

I hope you get the relief you need soon. In the meantime, rest and eat and drink what you can x

Thank you for your reply.

Yes I have second Taxol on Tue, so I am ringing tomorrow to ask for drain A S A.P.

Your right you have to be more forceful in what you want.

I hope you continue to pick up , that's what I'm hoping for.
