Have you asked your wife's oncologist whether these treatments can be tried? How is your wife?

No, but I don't know whether to ask him this question or not. Will try to ask his junior oncologist in next appointment.

If his junior gives the nod then only we will be able to ask.

After my wife's CT scan last month which showed sub capsular deposit on liver, the oncologist advised to take opinion of her Surgeon who had operated in 2017. Because the oncologist is not sure whether it is relapse or not. Also he suggested a wait and watch.

When we met the surgeon last week, he advised pet scan which should confirm regarding relapse.

The Pet scan is scheduled on17th sep. Let's hope for the best.

Why does the junior doctor have to give you permission to ask the oncologist about different types of treatment?

Thanks. Ohh the permission... Its something different. Normally an allopathic Doctor will not speak anything other than conventional treatment like chemo, surgery radiation. Hence,. ....

A lot of oncologists do treat patients holistically and are quite open to looking at alternative therapies as long as there is enough evidence for it. If you have enough information to demonstrate why this treatment will be effective then I am sure the oncologist will look at it.

Sadly not the case in most of the cities in India though India has good holistic medicine base.

Also there are very little amount of clinical trials performed by alternative medicine as they are very costly.

Also there are no or very less clinically proven cases as regards to Ayurveda or other holistic practices. I have spoken with several Ayurveda Doctors in this regard.

So there is lack of documented information.

I understand that and therefore it is very important that you make sure you know what is involved with other treatments. Unfortunately, there is a lot of information on the internet that is not always evidence based and has not been used very successfully on many patients. Are you not happy with your wife's treatment and the advice she has been given?

No it's ok. The only thing is the oncologist are not open on alternative medicine. We want to use it as supportive as it does not interfere in conventional treatment.

But if only oncologist from US and UK or EU will have to start it first.

My Friend who is a Homeopathy practitioner told that Many celebrities here are going to Germany for advanced homeopathy medicine.

In the UK, patients are allowed to have complementary therapies like acupuncture, reflexology, reiki and massage from registered therapists while they are having treatment and after. There is a holistic cancer centre in the UK called Penny Brohn where people can learn about the importance of proper diet, exercise, stress reduction and general lifestyle measures to follow when diagnosed with cancer. The website is pennybrohn.org.uk. You may find some useful information there. In my opinion, alternative therapies such as ayurveda, homeopathy and others claimed to treat cancer are not permanent cures. They probably help to strengthen the immune system which is very important to maintain one's health. I am sure if these treatments were effective there would be a lot of information available. You have to talk to your wife and let her decide what she would like to do since she has to have faith in any treatment that she is getting.

Thanks a lot for the new information.

Ayurveda and homeopathy are also complimentary like they can reduce the side effects of chemo and radiation depending upon the condition of patient and stage of cancer. And also to improve immune strength as above mentioned by you.

We will sure visit the website.

Thanks again

Amol

I do know about homeopathy and ayurvedic medicine and am not against using it but it is not always easy to find good practitioners. The other thing with homeopathic and ayurvedic remedies is that if you have to take oral preparations then any adverse effects can take longer to treat. I am sure ayurvedic massages would be brilliant to boost the immune system.

Wishing your wife all the best and hope you get answers to all your questions.
