Hi All, last yr i insert Marina then had to took off bcoz the the heavy non stop bleeding and ended up with iron infusion. During that time my gp asked me to check CA 125 as my paternal aunt has breat, overy n uterus cancer. The result came out with CA 125 - is 285 who is very very high. Then i went to the gynochologist who asked me to do proper scan (specialist sonographer who does only overy n uterus scanning) in my overy n uterus which came completely normal. But it also shoed that i have endiomysis. Then i was referred to onchologist amd before see him did CA 125 TEST again. This time it came down to 210. Then met the Onchologist and he said so far no worries but he would like me to do another CA 125 Teat after 3month which i have done today. He also said endiomysis can cause high level of CA 125. And since last yr oct to till jan this yr my body got very hyper bcoz of marina , very low iron level then iron infusion. So its good that CA is going down. So he said 3month will be a good time to give my body rest and do the test.

SO JUST WONDERING ANYONE ELSE HAS endiomysis and their CA was high for that or other tjan cancer they have CA level high? I am so scared.

Hi Rifat

Your post isn’t too clear-perhaps English is your second language? Any way I think you are asking about endometriosis and any link to OC. I don’t know about this but with your family history I wonder if having genetic testing would be a good thing to do? I am glad your doctors are watching you closely x

Dear Rifat

I'm sorry to hear you have such a worrying time. The CA125 test isn't specific to ovarian cancer, and many things can cause it to rise, including any sort of pelvic inflammation, such as endometriosis. Some women also have a naturally higher or lower level.

A US-based charity called Foundation for Women's Cancer provides a very clear leaflet about CA125 which might be helpful. Please bear in mind the leaflet is mainly aimed at women who have ovarian cancer, but you may still find some of the information helpful. You can read it here: foundationforwomenscancer.o...

Is there any other history of cancer in your family? As Lyndy says, you may want to discuss genetic testing with your oncologist so that you know if your family history means you have an increased risk of cancer. You can also ask to discuss the three month follow-up plan further so it is clear what the plan is in terms of monitoring your conditions and hopefully help with your worries.

You might find it helpful to look at the Endometriosis UK forum on HealthUnlocked here: healthunlocked.com/endometr... Endometriosis UK is a charity which provides support and information for anyone affected by endometriosis.

I hope this is helpful.

Best wishes

Hi Rifat,

I hope this message finds you well. How are you doing now? Did you re-test for CA125? If so, what were your results? Did you have surgery?

In February OB/GYN referred me to a Gynecological Oncologist because my CA125 is 182 and OVA1/ROM test results are 247.

I'm 43, no children, and have regular periods, etc. but have an 8cm complex cyst on my right ovary, 7cm cyst on my left ovary, uterine fibroids, one which is about 7cm, and a 'pelvic mass' which I believe is known as an adnexa.

I've seen a Gynecological Oncologist, who is suggesting a hysterectomy to remove everything... ovaries, tubes, uterus and cervix.

I am thinking of having my CA-125 & OVA1/ROM test red-zone because at the time I had them done, I had a UTI, was on my period and taking 5,000mg of biotin every day... all of those factors can falsely elevate test readings. In addition, I may have Endometriosis, which can also elevate test result numbers.
