Hello ~ Beautiful Teal sisters. It's been awhile since I've posted on here. I hope everyone is hanging in there and holding your head high!

I had my 6 month scan and I'm happy to report that I am NED πŸ€—πŸ’•

I had an appointment this morning with the Surgeon and I'm scheduled for a port removal on Friday! I'm so happy to be getting this removed. This was an easy decision even though I've had family and friends talk until they are blue in the face trying to talk me into keeping it. My reason is simple really...I'm NED and I want it GONE! I understand that I have a rare and aggressive cancer but, I feel if I keep it my body is prepped and ready for it to come back. So good ridden Cancer good ridden Port! #CancerSucks #FUCKCANCER #FIGHTER

Hi Sunshine,

It is me again.

I was really torn as to what to do about my Port.

I am in the UK, where they don’t routinely use sedation when they put the darn thing in and the experience was incredibly traumatic for me.

So I really hesitated to have it removed, just in case...

However, I am just finishing second line treatment this month. Everything looks good so far.

I am BRCA1 positive and I will go on the PARP inhibitor Niraparib next, which is in the form of tablets, so I have a good chance to remain disease free.

I hate this hideous port and I will make certain that my Oncologist insists on getting me sedation for its removal and then if I need it to be re-inserted insist on sedation then..

So yes! Get that monstrous thing out.

It does not help our already fragile self image.

Best wishes,

Laura

Hello again ~

Sending positive energy your way!

I'm not sure if I will be put under or not. I really didn't ask any questions because I'm so excited to have it removed! I just look at it as I've already been through hell so this will ne a walk in the park.πŸ™ƒ

2 months after chemo was over, my oncologist removed my port. He plain stated I would not need it anymore. I am now 3 years post chemo and have NOT needed it! Go get it out! It's a pain and a great positive step in this journey!!

I was sedated for insertion and removal. But I am in the States, so maybe protocol is different. I cannot imagine not being sedated for this. Happy news on your NED!!!!!
