My smaller dog (the blonde) had an ultra sound yesterday with a couple of blood tests. Cost £816. It made me think how much I am costing the NHS.
i know I paid in for 40 years but I couldn’t ask for better care and attention to all my aches pains and worries over the last four and a half years. I feel very lucky I live in the U.K.

That seems expensive. My dog was in the hospital for two days, had a lump removed for testing and a temperature. Turned out to be something he ate. Bill was £297
The nhs is a great idea but it is quite new and still has the teething problems of the 1950’s. They really need to sort it out properly so we all benefit in the years to come. My blood tests cost £20 a time for CA125 and £8 for things like FBC. I think we should be given a bill after each visit or treatment so we are aware of the cost, and an opportunity to donate direct to the nhs by way of an envelope and box on the wall
Your pups are beautiful! I have pet Insurance that costs dearly, but is well worth it.
But I am an American citizen who has been living in the UK for 25 years (Indefinite Leave to Remain) and I am extremely thankful for the care I have received here in the UK from the NHS.
I know it has its flaws, but there are problems in every nation, and mistakes are made everywhere.
And we are doubly blessed with our great Cancer Charities, like MacMillan and Ovacome.
I had my 2nd line treatment on private health insurance so that I could access Avastin which I missed out on with first line treatment as it was for after 3rd line then. So far the bill is £65000, that’s six sessions of gem /carbo and 14 Avastin. I was in shock when I saw it, it did make me think we should be given a bill by the NHS that just shows us the true cost of our treatment.
The black one is a bit of a mixture. He’s a Dogs Trust dog so we don’t know his background but he is very loving and a bit of a wimp.
I’m feeling good but see doc on Wednesday, then I’ll know how I’m really doing.
Hope everything is going smoothly for you.
Hi Kathy - I have been under corporate private insurance since June, the bill to date is £32.000 - this included consultations chemo and op. We assume that the bills they send to our insurance company are the same as on the NHS, but don't know for sure.

also included CT Scans, medication, Blood tests and a mammogram.
I think if everybody actually knew how much their care cost they’d be more appreciative of it and more people would think twice before turning up at A&E with a cold or bruise 😬
I am so grateful for the care I’ve received and continue to receive. Your vets bill is a total eye opener, couldn’t you get insurance for your lovely pups?
Best wishes for both good canine and person health ❤️Xx Jane
