Rising CA125 update

Thanks for all your positive responses. I saw the oncologist yesterday for the results of my scan and am pleased to report that there has been no change despite the fact that my CA125 is still rising (now 590). Feeling very relieved and sending good vibes to you all.

I don’t know....

I would not feel safe with such a rising of my CA-125.

Has your Oncologist offered a PARP inhibitor at least?

I would be wary.

So many of us showed nothing in a scan that later grew to be an impossible to fight tumour.

Just saying,

A clear scan is always good news. It's possible that something may show up in a future scan, but most oncologists won't put someone back on chemo unless there's evidence of a recurrence on a scan. Studies show there isn't even a clinical benefit to start treatment earlier based on just a rising CA-125.

My mom is possibly in a similar situation, where her numbers have gone up significantly, but her scan showed no recurrence.

I think it's a relief, especially to not have to go back on treatment during the holidays. This is essentially a watch and wait sort of situation I guess, but for the time being you, like my mom, have a clear scan, and that's a reassuring notion to focus on.

Have you had a PET scan? Not sure if it shows more but I had one recently when there was doubt. Perhaps others can shed more light on this???

No, I haven't been offered a PET scan.

I had a PET scan recently, which was specifically to look at a lung nodule, which they are baffled about. I asked my onc if it might show stuff up in my pelvis that the CT scan missed, she said sometimes it doesn’t show accurately for ovarian. However I read they can show more detail than CT scans and are used for ovarian patients in US, so it might be worth asking? Not all hospitals in the UK have them though.

Mine did show up a granuloma in my abdomen left over from surgery, which the CT scan did not, but hopefully nothing to worry about.

I would probably ask for one, if you are at all worried.

Thank you, I'll bear that in mind

I am delighted to hear this both for you and for myself. Mine rose and I got the new targeted radiotherapy but the numbers have dropped but not back down. Told they were in a straight line, sept scan was stable and having mri tomorrow to see what is causing swelling and pain in my thigh. He thinks Lymphodema but not sure until I get result

Hope all goes well for you with the MRI. My oncologist has told me about the new targeted radiotherapy, saying it could be an option if needed. At the moment I am symptom free, so happy to put it to the back of my mind for now.

One question I would ask now about the targeted therapy can it also make more lesions.
