My Hope Group ......

Whilst undergoing my first line chemo, I sadly lost my mum. She was almost 98 and had had a wonderful life, it was breaking her heart to see me suffering so I'm glad she is at peace now and out of pain. Anyhow, when sorting through her possessions, I came across her sewing machine which she had always said I could have.

I had never used a sewing machine since I was at school and not very successfully then! Anyway to move on with the story, in January of last year I was a bit of a wreck and went to our local McMillan centre for help. I joined a HOPE course which was being run by them, there were 7 of us.

When the course finished, we formed our own HOPE supper club and once a month we meet and either go out to eat or to someone's house. They have been lovely friends and a real support to me, so I decided to make them each of them a little gift for Xmas on my sewing machine. See pics. They are little make up/toilet bags and I've put a little gift in each. I hope they like them and I'm sure my mum would be thrilled with the use her sewing machine is getting and the pleasure it's given to me and to those I've made things for x x x How life changes!!

That’s so lovely. And it’s great when doing something nice for others also benefits our well being too - your mum would be pleased to see her machine in use x
