Dear All
I was away last week and returned today, so I'm really sorry to see that there has been a problem with spamming while I've been away. It is essential that the forum is a place where you all feel safe and it is unacceptable that the forum is misused in this way.
This is to update you as to the action taken:
- the forum post which many of you raised concerns about has been deleted (thank you all for taking the time to flag it, it really helps not only identify the spam as quickly as possible but also support our conversations with Health Unlocked so they can see what's happening)
-the two users who were posting/private messaging spam have been reported to Health Unlocked who have banned them across the site
With regard to unwanted followers, users who follow you but are not members of My Ovacome will not be notified of your posts.
You can't block individual users from following you but you can turn off off the follow feature which would stop any user being able to follow you.
This can be done by going into your account settings and unticking the "Allow other users to follow me" box. You'll need to click 'Save changes' before leaving the page. This would affect all your followers though.
Please make sure your posts are set for community members only. This means only members of My Ovacome can see it.
With regard to private messaging, you can mute users who send you a private message to stop them from being able to private message you. You can report them by clicking the report box at the top of the page.
Finally, some of you raised concerns regarding some of the language directed at the spammers by forum members. Please bear in mind that, infuriating as spammers are, swearing can cause upset to your fellow genuine forum members.
Once again, I'm really sorry for the effect this has had on the forum. Thank you to all of you who took the time to alert us. I'm sorry the post wasn't removed as quickly as usual but with an expanding support services team from next month we should have this covered in future times of leave.
Please do get in touch with me if you have any queries or concerns.
Best wishes
Anna
