Hi, yes my mum sees her Oncologist at Mount Vernon and had all her first line treatment (chemo/Avastin) there in 2016. In fact we are there tomorrow for her 3 month check & the dreaded ca125 results. Best wishes to you. Deborah

They both are sad to hear the prof is actually retiring in August.

Yes they are a great team , overstretched, but aren’t they all Good luck to you xx

One of the oncologists has given a couple of talks at Ovacome Members' days and I found her pretty impressive.

Hi I go to mount Vernon too! There's a gynae group 1st weds of the month , I go when I'm not working, thought I'd mention it as most ladies have had OC and I found it good to chat to others in same position

Hi,

What time and whereabouts at Mount Vernon does the group meet?

I think my mum might be interested in going along to this. It would be really great for her to chat to others with OC, especially without me there as she would open up more on her own. She doesn’t talk about it enough which has always worried me.

Thanks.

Deborah

Gynae group 10-12 first weds of the month, up the double sided winding stairs near restaurant . Room at the top. Stepping Stones is a fantastic group 3rd Thursday of the month in Lynda Jackson centre 4.30-6.30. Also they run a Hope course and a look good feel good day ( you get a lovely bag full of make up at the end ) I kept in touch with everyone from my hope course and we meet up every three months for a meal. It's so nice being with others that really understand. Hope this all helps Lesley x

Hi , when I was first diagnosed last year Kath Cremmins told me about it but the Prof told me she had left and they weren’t getting a new CNS until August so I didn’t think it would still be on . Good to know , I will keep that in mind , Thanks . Julia xx

It's on the 1st weds of the month. 10-12 It's run by April the gynae nurse. It's in a room at the top of the double sided winding stairs by the restaurant. Also there's a group called stepping stones meets every third Thursday. It's a really good group, they have a different subject each month unrelated mostly to cancer and you'll meet some lovely people . It's in the Lynda Jackson centre 4.30-6.30. If you go to gynae I'll see you there . Also have you had the Look Good Feel good afternoon? Well recommended it , you go home with a lovely bag of makeup

That’s great, thanks for the info on all this Lesley. I’ll certainly tell my Mum (also called Lesley!) & hope she’ll want go along to the Gynae group.

No she hasn’t been to the Look Good feel good one - never actually been told about it even though we only live 5 mins from Mount Vernon.

She has responded really well (so far!) to all her treatment but feel she could have done with more support afterwards (& probably counselling). Thanks again & hope will see you at the Wed group. Deborah xx

I'm glad your mums doing ok. I had counselling at the Lynda Jackson centre and also free complementary therapy there too! I went to anything and everything I could just to keep me occupied. I also joined my local hospice , made more new friends, use gym, meditation, more complimentary therapies, friendships group and more . If your mum ever fancied meeting up drop me a message 😊 All the best to her x
