Barnie is my new rescue boy who has come to us on a trial. I've always had dogs and lost my last one in November just at the end of my frontline treatment - devastated. I never thought I would be able to have another due to this horrible illness. My husband says I have to move on and stop waiting for a recurrence - I'm doing as I'm told which is unusual. I have explained my health issues to the rescue agency and they have said they will take him back if I can't cope. Fingers crossed - he is a complicated soul who,s had a bad start - bless him x x x

Gives me something to get up for in the morning come rain or shine. Both my husband and 25 year old son are thankfully fit and well and will help me if I'm not feeling too good. X x
OMG he is adorable! I got a puppy at the end of my first line treatment and once I was given a positive prognosis this January as my previous 3year old dog got cancer and had to be put to sleep in during my treatment! I was devastated!
My puppy has been an amazing addition to my life, she keeps my mind in the present and keeps me walking every day! I love being outdoors it’s good for my soul! I have recently found out I have a recurrence and need to start chemo again but I’m going to carry on enjoying our walks and her mad half hours she will help me through it I know!
Barnie is a lucky boy and you will love having him he will bring you such joy xx

Keeps me walking too and it's someone to talk to when everyone is at work! Not sure I could have coped with a puppy hence why we went for a rescue he is 18 months old. Been in trouble but Irish need kind but firm handling or they will push barriers. Like kids really - routines and consistency. He's very bright - he's had no training and is sucking up everything like a sponge. The breed rescue have been brilliant and will have him back if my health falls over again - that was my main worry. As my husband says MOVE ON !!
I agree with hubby I’m not going to let this disease steal any more of my sunshine than it has!!
To be honest she’s been a good puppy and has kept me thoroughly entertained!
I think your boy will do you the world of good and you will become his world too!

What a gorgeous boy!! He looks full of character!! Our Doggy has been an absolute godsend to me since diagnosis and now chemo, getting out in the fresh air helps so much, even when you don’t feel like it. I’m sure Barnie will give you lots of love, cuddles and happiness ahead 💙🐶

He’s gorgeous and will bring you so much joy . We got a rescue dog ( 5 yr old cross German shepherd / collie originally from Romania ) after I finished my first line treatment and he really helped my physical and mental recovery and has been such fun for the whole family .

Oh wow I love him just gorgeous! We have an Airedale terrier (George) so v similar to an Irish in looks as well as character (stubborn but such fun) lol.
Best of luck with him. You will heal each other & he will enrich your life & make you go for walks etc. Your husband is so right re the moving on! & dogs are great!
He is a handsome young man. You know sometimes it is good to have a little friend to care for. I know rescues can be hard work. I got one about three months ago and he had fear aggression. But he is much better now, he jumps at silly things. I don't know what his life was before us apart from he was any only dog and lived with a man, I gave him space when he was getting cross and now we understand each other much better. Don't think he had much interaction. He is a black and tan king Charles and normally they are placid dogs but this guy is a bit of a challenge. He loves walks, he hates my neighbour dogs. He has had to get used to my own two but it seems to be working out/ All the best with your new best friend

He looks so comfortable and will bring so much to your life. We had never had a dog but as I was at home so much we too got a rescue from Romania. She is a corgi jack Russel cross and probably has the worst traits of both breeds but she has made me exercise more with walks that I would not have done. My daughter and I love to find dog friendly cafes at local beaches for a couple of refreshing hours so I hoe Barney brings so much pleasure to your life

He is just gorgeous!
We had our first ever dog 3 months after I was diagnosed and he was the best thing we ever did. Billy bought us so much happiness it was unbelievable. Unfortunately he was only with us for two years before he died of the dreadful disease Alabama Rot but we missed him so desperately a month later We adopted Teddy.
Teddy is cuddling up to us in bed as I type after a busy day on the beach yesterday. If you are thinking about getting a dog then if you possibly can do it!

What a gorgeous Irish, they are S stubborn with wilful breed , but then you know this with having had two.
It’s good he gone to a home that understand him and will put the boundaries there.
I think you will be so good for each other and have a long and joyful life together .

Oh he is absolutely gorgeous! What a lucky boy to find a lovely home with you, I so hope it all works out for you both. My two Norfolk Terrier girls keep me going. Even after I had weekly chemo and every afternoon whatever the weather we are out walking. They say it is the best exercise, good for the body and soul and wonderful at this time of year. What a CUTIE!!!! We foster dogs --usually for two to three week periods and if I saw one with a face this Barnie, I am not sure I could give him back! I love the name too. Hope he brings you joy and and comfort. oxox
He looks a real character! We lost our Westie last August but bit the bullet and got a puppy. Angus is great- a Scoland terrier ( half Scottie, half Westie and also known as Huggy Bears) and he has been a joy. Does like to escape though .............

He looks lovely. Terriers can be a bit of a handful. I’ve always had terriers because they have big personalities and miss having a dog in the house. Especially at night as I’m easily spooked and hubby is not sympathetic to my delicacies lol

Thank you. He's settling well but a bit of a complicated soul, I think. I was so anxious because of my illness but my son and my husband convinced me and promised to look after him if I'm not well again. We've always had terriers too just love their characters!! I've had 2 Irish terriers before and the stroppiest wire fox terrier ever!!
I had Glen of Imaal terriers. My aunt had Fox terriers and my mum had a terrier cross who was lovely. I like the Dandie Dinmont and the border terriers too. I don’t think Hubby would do well left with a pet to look after. That’s any pet. On a scale from goldfish upwards lol

So I've lost a cat - Quincy. I've looked for him everyday, but I haven't posted in the neighborhood or on social media because, well, if things get worse, he's better off somewhere else. I sure do miss him though, and I wish I had a husband telling me to go find him no matter what, or get another cat, but just keep getting on with life. We need people in our life that help us move forward without squashing a very real grieving process that is just part of this whole thing. I don't have that. In fact, the couple of people there now and again think because my hair is coming back everything is all better - two cancers magically over. I'm speechless. Anyway, I'm so sorry for your November loss and wishing you and Barnie a great love and companionship in one another moving forward!
