Hi all, feeling a little worried not sure if I should be? I had third line treatment finish Feb 8th (Gemzar / Carbo) Ca125 down to 1340 from a start point of 3987.
Had scan Feb 14th & it showed no further growth on the tumours and on a couple actually shrunk so I was really pleased & was put on Olaparib.
Had bloods taken Feb 28th to make sure all okay for Olaparib (all ok & I started the drugs March 2nd) they also requested a ca125 on the 28th which I received the results today it had gone up by 178??
The test was done prior to starting Olaparib but feeling a little panicked, and have a blood test booked in for this Friday.
If the buggers were on the move, is it possible the new drugs would of stopped it in the last 3 weeks of being on the drugs?
Feeling worried already... 😓

Emma you and I are very similar. We are more or less at the same stage together.
I finished 3rd line in Oct and started Olapharib in Nov. My ca125 is on the move again and I’m also in agony with pain. I’m in clinic on Thursday to see what’s going on. I’m really not ready to consider more treatment. Praying that this is easily resolved and I get a well earned break. Hope it’s just the new drug in your system that’s causing the rise. I had a rough couple of months on it but then it all settled down and I’ve been great. I have a hernia that’s causing complications for me xo
Oh no that's not good, let's hope the pain is the new drugs and they can resolve it ASAP.
I do hope the rise is just the drugs & nothing more sinister for each of us like you I'm not ready to even consider more treatment just yet, I'll be honest the thought of more chemo fils me with utter dread!
Please let me know how you get on Thursday, I'll be thinking of you xx
Thank you and hope you get good results from your blood tests.
I swore in Nov no more chemo and as you said it fills me with dread too at the thoughts of it but know if it comes to it will have to do it. My baby is only 14, my son is in uni and my daughter gets married in June. They all need me 💔 xo
Julie I am thinking of you (was there yesterday as part of the Ariel4 check up) and hoping hard as I can that the pain is a blip and you can go ahead with Olaparib. We both have similar outlook in that our children motivate us so much. All the very best to you xxxxx Netti
Hi Emalou,I've been on Olaparib now for over 2 years. My scans are NED but my CA125 is rising for the last year.Ive not been taken off the drug as it seems to be working on the cancer. My Onc isn't too worried about the rise in CA so if he isn't than I'm not,I'll worry when it's time to worry😀.
Yes Olaparib have some significant side effects and it affects women in different ways.Mine was Anemia, so dosage cut in half, that was over a year ago.I do have pain in my ribs, back, pelvis, groin.I also suffer from tummy upset and fatigue, insomnia.Im happy that I've had a 2 year break from infused chemo and there is many new drugs in the horizon.
Hiya, yes this does help thank you & so pleased it's working for you and you've had a good break from chemo. I'm suffering a little with nausea and insomnia but apart from that I think I'm doing ok. Thank you xx
