CT measurement

I've just had yet another CT scan and never before have I wondered if the measurements they give you are horizontal or vertical. I have a fairly large tumour and its outside measurements haven't changed much but when I clasp it, it does feel flatter. Do they measure that somehow? Does anybody have the answer to this rather silly question, although I will ask my onc now I've thought the thought?!

Hello! For the purposes of a trial, a target lesion is a tumour greater than or equal to 10 mm in the longest diameter, and for a lymph node it is the shortest diameter, which must be greater or equal to 15mm.

So, I guess your tumour could well be be getting flatter and yet still have approx the same longest diameter. Maybe not for long once the "stuff" does more of its work and it really starts to shrink.

Up to London tomorrow for my CT scan, hoping it’s not too cold on the train. Probably see you on 10th. Hope your cat is enjoying the snow. Took Rufus to his gun dog training class on Saturday. He’s in a class with five other puppies and he’s the youngest. He doesn’t exactly cover himself in glory, all the other dogs sit obediently in a row, patiently waiting their turn, while he chases leaves or sniffs their bottoms when he thinks they can’t see him. Had wooly hat on top of wig and hood on top of hat. Almost pulled the wig off when pulling hood down when it was our turn to run down this snow covered field, could hardly see a thing with the snow falling, supposedly quartering it for game. Whistle fell out of mouth when stumbled, must be mad. Had a shot of whisky when got home and didn’t move from the log burner for hours.

Yes, I'll be there on 10th so I look forward to hearing all about the good things that happen when you step away from the cancer grindstone (I'm sure there's a better word!) As I say, I would love it that you go into a long period of remission so you can go to Pilates, train Rufus (loved the story), fumigate the bees and produce lots of glorious honey, but did you know that you could also make your own hash oil? This is made possible with the Honey Bee Extractor. I personally don't believe it would be a good idea to start producing the raw material in this country and it has nothing at all to do with bees! But it's not illegal to dream and be in La La Land every now and then! Get on that plane girl! Gx

Hello Gina, Jean looked for you today on the chemo ward as it was her first weekly Taxol. Perhaps it was your week off. Her appointment next Tuesday is 2.30.

Thanks, I’d like for you to go into remission too. I daydream sometimes that a few of us go on a trial and have such fantastic results that all of us are given the same drug and every single one of us is cured. And since it’s a dream, it’s a definite cure, none of this wondering will it, won’t it come back.

I have to admit I’m struggling how my honey extractor could be used to extract oil, either from leaves, seeds or roots. I decided a clue might be in the use of the words, “honey BEE extractor,” so I’ve searched online and it would appear there is such a thing. Queen bees and killer bees too. Quite what they are, I can only guess. Did you learn this from Holland?

Shame I wasn't there to support Jean - it was my week off, as you surmised. Thanks for passing on her timing for next week. I'll certainly look for her. At least she had you. My sister arrives from Australia on Sunday so will escort me most weeks in April.

It was obviously meant as a topical joke as I can't see you using your bees for anything except glorious honey! It might help solve LA's pain or Kryssy and my MS but let's not go there!!

Gosh, where are you? It was sunny here too but too cold for dropping off to sleep.

I’ve been a bit ill-ish today, the sort of illness that requires treating with Imodium. Unrelated to OC and only indirectly related to chemo in so much as lowish neutrophils probably helped it take hold. I went riding yesterday and perhaps was careless when grooming. Who knows, anyway I’m better now.

Bees were flying out in the sun. Some of them anyway. See you all on the 10th.

Hi my measurements that stopped me flying went from 27mm to 67 in six weeks sitting on outside of sigmoid colon! Hence I think they wsnt up start chemo ASAP! Anyone had these sort of measurements, doctor seems chemo will sort it 🙏

Yes I'm afraid my tumours grow quickly but with chemo do reduce in size. In 3 months my inguinal lymph nodes went from 53 to 61 but it's even bigger now. I'm on the SRA737-2 trial which is capsules and gemcitabine every week. I'm waiting for size reduction and have a scan at the beginning of Feb. Fingers and toes are crossed.
