Hello all. I am starting these three on Monday. I am trying to get an idea of how bad the side effects will be. I work full-time and trying to figure out what I will or won’t be able to do.
Also, how long after is Avastin given for maintenance?
Thank you everyone.

Hi yo207 I was on that combination from June to Dec last year. The first two treatments were gem/carbo and on the third avastain was given. Generally I was very well but I would be very warm for about three or four days after. I am still on avastain and all is well. I am in ireland. Good luck with the treatment.
Thank you for your response. With both of my prior treatments I was bed ridden for 2-3 days sometimes longer. I have the metal taste in my mouth so I can’t drink as I should and eating was not good either. I am in New York. This disease knows no boundaries. God bless us all.
I’ve just finished carbo/gem and am still having Avastin for my first recurrence. I have honestly found it far easier than carbo/taxol (but I didn’t find that too terrible, so maybe I’m not a good judge!). Barely any nausea, no hair loss, occasional constipation (but easy to resolve), tastebuds not too badly impacted (important for me because I’m greedy 😋😄). Bloods coped well throughout too, but, importantly, I opted not to have the Day 8 top up of Gem. Avastin has given me a snotty/bloody nose, but again, not terrible.
I’m in the UK, and Avastin is normally given every 3 weeks for 18 cycles. I’m having it privately, so I’m not sure how many I’ll have.
Thank you so much. It certainly does help. I think I can handle those side effects even though it is not fun. I wish you the best. God Bless you. I will keep you in my prayers Vicki.🙏
