The stage refers to the extent of the spread / areas affected and the grade is the cell type and how quickly it divides / behaves.

It's also important to note that there are a number of sub-types of Ovarian Cancer eg Hugh grade Serous, Low Grade Serous, Mucinous, Clear Cell etc. These can be distinct in their origins, behaviour & treatments and increasingly considered to be different diseases within the umberella diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer....
