Great news had an appt yesterday for the results of the BRCA2 test and negative result so glad that I will not be passing this horrible disease to my daughters and grandchildren - they already have 3 generations of bowel cancer on my late husband's side.

That is good news and a great relief to you. May I ask were you waiting long for the test and results, I take it you are in the UK. Here in Ireland there is a long public waiting list to have this done and going privately is about 1500 euro.

I was put forward for it as my sister died of pancreatic cancer at 45 and my grandmother had breast cancer and they said there could be a link.

I was diagnosed in August and had the test in November - the result wait is approx 3 months.

So not a long wait for the test or results but there was a history reason for it so don't know if this speeded things on but don't think it is a norm here.

Thanks for your reply, I did discover that two grand aunts died from Ovarian Cancer but my mother and her sisters lived to a ripe old age as did my father and his brothers and sisters. So I do intend to ask the gp or oncologist if it was worth my while getting the test done privately here in Ireland. I could think of better ways to spend money ie a holiday but if I was positive it leads me open to Parp Inhibitors if of course the Health Service offers the drug to us ladies here.
