Hi im new to this site. I have secondary OC and Krukenbergs. On Wednesday I am going to St Thomas's to get my plan. I have been drained twice due to ascities and get so frustrated that I end up in a hospital bed for 3 days each time ! Looking for any type of advice for the next part of this terrible journey.
Love to all

Hi Sara.So sorry to hear your going through a tough time.I know here(Ireland), they insert a drainage tube if your constantly getting a build up of ascities. That way you can drain it yourself at home after getting advice and direction from the oncology staff.I too suffered from ascities. They removed over 2 stone of fluid .Thankfully the chemo and Avastin is keeping the fluid at bay.Im advanced stage 4 diagnosed last September. My G.P weighed me when fluid was drained so he keeps a good eye on weight gIn as it might suggest a build up of fluid again.I don't know if this helps or not.The journey is full of twists, turns and detours, but we will carry on.xx
Hi Sara, so sorry your having a hard time right now.
I was diagnosed with OC but surgery has cleared that and they now think it started in the bowel, which they resectioned. Last tests showed no disease, next tests in September. They now say it's nueroendocrine cancer which could pop up anywhere. I'm just trying to get on with my life, but there's always the niggle at the back of you mind, what next?
I have no experience of this but have heard of people on this site having drains fitted so they can drain themselves. Perhaps give Ovacome helpline a ring. I think they were called a Pleurex drain
Hi Sara1963, Well you are in good hands at St Thomas' I go to Guys for chemo treatment and occasionally have to got to ST Thomas' ie for a scan 2 weeks ago. Had drains done over 2 years ago. It's a journey and you need your family and friends but try and keep your chin up the medical staff will be such a help. xxx
