Heeeeelp!
Was admiring my new eyebrows in the mirror and HOLY BALLS I'M GROWING WHITE FUZZ ALL OVER MY FACE! It's like I've turned into a monkey overnight. This cancer just keeps on giving.
First there was no hair and now I'm growing it like a caveman.
Is this a hormone issue?
Anyone else out there with a monkey face?
Oh dear. Sigh.
It happened to me only mine was dark. With some people it seems to go in time. I needed electrolysis for a few months. Bizarrely I ended up with hairy knees too!

Hello there. I understand the monkey face, when the hair follicles begin to get active. I never worried about shaving; creams or waxing until hair began to grow after chemo. When i finished 2nd line treatment I noticed 'fair' facial hair - but with summer, and no make-up, it was not too noticeable - except by me seemingly. Now again, after 3rd line treatment - hair slow to grow, but imagine facial hair will return.
No need to do anything, as that hair falls out or disappears very quickly.

Yes the Billie Goat Hair. I remember it well, it did fall out though. Mind you it is a shocker. 'This cancer just keeps on giving.' that quote made me laugh out loud. Priceless

Ninawith OC - That was the funniest post ever though I'm sure it's not funny thinking you're growing hair everywhere. I'm relieved to read from the others that it will disappear. Now every time I see a chin hair growing I'll know what to blame .... that bl**dy cancer! xxx lol Annie
LOL, your post just made me snort my tea! Sorry I can't help about the hair, as I didn't get any white fuzz myself (I hope it's temporary!) I have got weird ridges on all my fingernails though. Gxxx
Google it ...very common after having a chemo regimen that resulted in hair loss. Don't worry the "peach fuzz" look eventually goes!
Oh I'm so hesitant to google anything OC related! There are vile scary things on that google and everything is going so well at the moment. I did google permanent body hair removal though

Yes I have it now and it happened after 1st line chemo too. My husband helpfully pointed out that I looked like a Golden Cheeked Gibbon. I haven't tried to remove it as there seems so much, last time it did go away eventually. I am sure we notice it more than others but why oh why if we get any hair at all it has to be on our face!

Me too.... for some reason it really upset my mother, but I didn't mind it and I'm not sure anyone else noticed or felt it worth commenting on.
It did go back to normal before too long...I'd not feel comfortable with drastic action against it - perhaps it would encourage it!

Oh, that sounds like a wise course of action. Do nothing. Fuzz might change into man-hairs and that would be unspeakable

Yet been there had that and wasn't my finest hour mine was white and curl to,ring Mac nurse she had the answer imac hair remover for sensertive skin done once never came back lol xx
Oooh really? I was just thinking it may be better to leave it alone and wait for it to drop - just in case it might get excited and grow back stronger. I'll give it some time and see if it goes away on its own. Thank you for the hair remover tip - that's good news
Oooh, thank you for all the reassurance. Hoping my sideburns are related to the hair follicles activating again rather than raging man-hormones taking over the show! Waiting for the fuzz to settle then!
My hair is living life of its own anyway. If I wake up one morning with Elvis sideburns I'm sending pictures!

it was great to read the hilarious comments & descriptions of the hair regrowth - still, the monkey face name sounds much better and will cheer up others. Particularly when it caused a 'tea snorting' session.
I still hope each time it happens that the new hair will be either straight or blond - ladies it is neither!!!

Nina, this is so timely, I have been looking in the mirror and thinking, did I really always have fuzzy sideburns and a beard? Is this some kind of estrogen blackout thing?! Now I know that it too will leave again. Thanks for raising this and to everyone who commented for all the good advice. (Mind you, my hair had just started growing back due to 8 week break in chemo - how nice it was to see something returning. Now that chemo has restarted it's all falling out again so a bit of an, er, hairatus going on).

I remember it happened to me....I have to confess I used my husbands razor to shave it all off.......my skin felt really soft afterwards . In fact in the Daily Mail last week there was an article about ladies that shave
the down on their faces every week and a skin expert said it is fine to do so .In fact it exfoliates the skin and makes any moisturiser you put on work better. Just be careful and do it gently.

Hi Monkeyface. I too woke up one morning post chemo to find a hairy bitch staring back from the mirror. My eyebrows have reappeared, my hair started to regrow & has now stopped, my eyelashes regrew & then dropped out again! My hair now looks like a white bottle brush & I hate it. But have taken comfort from fact I am obviously not alone, and the fact that women shaving their faces is the latest beauty fashion craze. Will stick with the wigs for while yet. Never knew how much valued my eyelashes til hadn't got any.
Keep smiling & that's what people will see first.
