Hello. I'm not medically qualified but it could be because of the inflammation caused by the chemo. What was it before you started chemo and what stage were you diagnosed at? Lovis x

Hi Laling

I hope you haven't been worrying about this over Christmas. Oncologists always say they look at trends, and as Lovis has said, there are various reasons a CA125 count can come up. In fact my hospital don't tell me the level at each chemotherapy visit. They just reassure me everything's fine.

I'm sure you are too and I have no doubt your oncologist will let you know if they were worried - so if they aren't then please try not to worry.

I hope the last chemo goes well and you get a brillliant result!

with very best wishes. Annie

It started at 14.4

I was told once that the bloods can be spoiled in the labs. However if its a constant well then in this case I am wrong. But when you do go on chemo, some drugs can raise the ca 125 and it goes up before it comes down. One of the oncology nurses told me that as I had a similar question, and the registrar was giving me the imp;ression the treatment wasnt working. But that wasnt the case at all and I had many sleepless nights for nothing, I think if the trend remains similar there are no worries and if your team isnt worried, then you should be either. Once my 125 came down to zero when I was off treatment having had an op for shoulder bursitiis, my onc jokingly said get the other shoulder done and I replied no way it was just awful worse than chemo

Morning. I am certainly not a Doctor, but have been there for my wife through it all. On our experience they track the count looking for sharp jumps or a continued upward curve. Be mindful, but not unduly worried by +1 increases. Your consultant should reassure you along the same lines (I sincerely hope) Xx
