Is it common to have colon involvement (malignant constriction) with OC? Is it treated by chemo or surgery?
Colon involvement?: Is it common to have colon... - My Ovacome
Colon involvement?
Surely these are questions for your oncologist and surgical team. I know tumours can spread to the bowel in some women but no idea how common this is and I would imagine the decision to treat with surgery or chemotherapy very much depends on the individual case. It would be great to know the answer if you get some professional advice. xxx
Not sure whether my case is exactly the same as yours but there might be similarities. At first both my symptoms and results of a colonoscopy and 1st ct scan seemed to point to colon cancer not oc. Also my ca125 reading was 'normal' when 1st taken. Two wonderful consultants, one colon and one gynaecologist , got together to do biopsies plus anything else that might need to be done!!!!! This could have been removing a section of bowel or doing stoma surgery. This last was done apparently to remove pressure on the bowel which could be a problem during chemo. Results show that I have stage 3 oc. The stoma surgery was ok. The thoughts worse than the actually plus the stoma nurses are brilliant. Also it can be reversed at a later date. I start chemo this week. As I stay not too sure whether any of this helps but good luck x
I would agree with Whippit that your Doctor or Oncologist should answer this. However, I am prone to constipation & obstruction since diagnosed with OC and I was advised to take regular laxatives to help, and it did.
But the first thing, is to ask the medics and hopefully it can be resolved without surgery or chemo.
Best wishes, Daisies
My second reoccurance of OC was in my colon and it was treated by Chemo! I hope that this helps you.
