I have just found out my cancer is primary peritoneal. Anyone had a recurrence? If so what we're your symptoms?

Hi

I have had PPC since june 2012. I had a recurrence in june 2013. My symptoms were bloating and ultimately acites( which I had not suffered from on the first time round)

I've been wondering for a while why you're not called rightleg1? X

Tee here. I do have both.

Name came about as I set up email and a number of accounts when I was at home with my left leg in plaster following a skiing accident.

Thanks for replying. Did you also have increased ca markers first and second time around? And did you have chemo twice? Thanks again. Julie x

Yes, I had increased ca 125 markers both times. In 500s first time. I had carbo plating and taxol first time. Then had a 6 month remission. I have just finished a course of carboplatin/ gemcitabine and avastin. My cancer is now static. I wish you all the best

This means I am not in remission but the treatment is holding the disease stable.

Hi I too have PPC. diagnosed August 2012 treatment followed of Chemo Surgery and Chemo. finished end Jan 2013. Since them have been asymptomatic. Last check up which included CA125 and a scan indicated recurrence. I have had a very gradual rise in the CA125 from 6 and at last check it was 46. Higher than it should be but nowhere near as high as it was at diagnosis. 3000. I am on watch and wait and feeling OK with that at the moment. I do know I will need more treatment. Apart from the CA125 and a scan showing a small amount of recurrence. I am still asymptomatic and feeling well. This disease is really difficult to gauge. We all seem to respond differently although of course there are many similarities.. Oh I had severe bloating and ascites first time round. So far non of those symptoms just slightly raised marker.

Hello JacJac thank you too for replying. I have ca markers which rose to 38 then only increased by one in four weeks so now 39. I was also diagnosed in 2012 and I had ascites and bloating. I don't have that now so I too am on watch and wait, last ct was clear but I don't feel great at the moment but not sure if that is cancer related so difficult to know what's going on. Anyway let's hope it stays away for as long as possible. Julie x

Hi there, diagnosed August 2012, only sign was gradual bloating which was ascites. chemo surgery chemo. Remission for 13 months but have been having chemo off and on ever since. I knew it was back each time before the scan showed anything. Just little things and my tumour markers were rising but they won't go on those alone unfortunately. It felt good to be validated each time even though it wasn't good news. Have been on Taxol since December 5th. August Scan showed no changes in what was already there but October scan showed huge changes and a new mass and ascites again although not as bad as when diagnosed. Have been on weekly 3 out of 4 taxol and tumour markers have dropped from 2900 in Dec to 259 last month. Feb Scan showed everything has reduced and the new mass is barely discernible so the Taxol seems to like me. Have been feeling a little off the last two weeks so will be interesting to see what my tumour markers are this month. Have quite a bit of nerupathy in my feet more so than my fingertips so have to keep an eye on that. I fall over enough without any help. All the best. Chris.

Hello Chris thank you for responding. It's really helpful to me to understand how this disease behaves. I am full of admiration for your ongoing battle, taxol seems to be working so good news. Sure it wl be my turn again at some point in the not too distant future. Let's hope for more research and successful treatments... Julie
