You don't say the reason why you have had an hysterectomy, most of us that have had problems since ....is not actually to do with the hysterectomy but more to do with the underlying treatment of Ovarian Cancer therefore it is difficult to determine the cause.

Perhaps you should discuss the problem with your doctor there might be a simple explanation for this and may then be a simple solution.

If you want more info on the after-effects of a hysterectomy, have a look at the Hystersisters website. It's good for hysterectomy info. If you've had OC, have a look at ovacome.org.uk. There is lots of info on there. After a hysterectomy, it often takes a while for the internal organs, especially the digestive system, to settle back. If you've had chemo, it may be linked to that.

All the best

Hi there

I had the same surgery as you plus a second large laporotomy a few months later. I didn't need chemo or radiotherapy , just follow up, but have had abdominal pain and discomfort since. When you think about the extent of the surgery, it's physical , hormonal and emotional implications , as well as a very difficult diagnosis ....this is I think only to be expected. I cope as best I can with low dose medication , my husband , family , friends and employers have all been great.

It's not abnormal honestly.

I am one of the support line nurses at Ovacome - do feel free to give us a ring to discuss this. 020 72996650 As stated above it depends on why you had the hysterectomy and also whether this cramping has just started or has been happening ever since the hysterectomy. If this is something new I think that you need to get it checked out by your doctor.

Best Wishes

Ruth
