Hi Jesica78,

I also was diagnosed with primary peritoneal cancer this summer and finished chemo 4 weeks ago - what are they planning for you, or is it a family member who's affected?

Your head must be spinning- it comes as such a terrible shock. Still 4 w after chemo finished I'm feeling well , so just take it a step at a time and do offload any worries or questions on us all here - this forum is a life saver I've found - you'll get loads of support and helpful advice from everyone.

Take care

Love

Jessica ,

Hi ... I had PPC , and was similar to your Mum , as I had it in my ovaries , womb, appendix , throughout the Peritoneal cavity and my large and small intestines, liver etc but not in any of my major organs. I had 3 chemo , surgery and then 3 more chemo. I finished chemo this time last year and am monitored every 3 months , and hopefully clear at the moment . I go back in Jan! This site has been invaluable to me over the last year . You will get lots of support and advice to help you and your Mum. I'm 57 and it came as a massive shock to me as like lots of other people I felt quite well . Best Wishes , dy xxx

Hi Jessica .. Me too. I was diagnosed at 52. So, yes, I have heard of it but would rather not have. Love Tina x

I too have PPC. Was diagnosed in July 2012. I had 6 cycles of carbo/taxol but no surgery as the disease was considered too scattered. I had a 6 month remission and am now back on chemo ( carbo/gemcitabine and avastin)

Wishing your mum all the best

Hi Jessica.

I have ppc too, diagnosed over 4 years ago, and had one recurrence. If you want info, you can find primary peritoneal cancer classed under ovarian cancer in cancer research uk website or mcmillan website. Both give a lot of info for patients and relatives. Basically ppc is related to ovarian cancer, as they explain. It starts in the peritoneum rather than in the ovaries - my ovaries were absolutely normal when removed, but the cells involved are similar, ie the peritoneal cells are like ovarian cells, due to how they develop in the foetus, ie before you are born.

Hope this helps. I am a retired GP as well as a patient.

Best wishes and love,

Eileen xxx

Hi Jessica

I was diagnosed with stage 3c peritoneal cancer back in november 2012 after months of being told I had IBS! I had 4 months of Carbo/taxol then surgery, then 4 more months of chemo, now on three weekly Avastin only, and all is going well CA125 down to 7 so now hoping for a 30 year remission!!!
